HOUGHTON PACKING PLACEMENT TOOL Filed Oct. 11, 1932 By 2mm fltlorney Patented Nov. 28, 1933 UNITED S ATES PATENT OFFICE This invention relates to an improved tool which is especially, but notjnecessarily, adapted to expedite the proper placement of packing in a stufiing box or gland, for example, the type A 5 of gland used in conjunction with the circulating pump ofa motor vehicle cooling system.
The purpose of the invention is to provide a simple and economical, thoroughly practical and up-to-date tool which is expressly designed to expedite correct placement ofpacking material in a gland of the type above specified.
Br'iefiy stated, the preferred embodiment of the invention comprises apair of intercepting.

Referring now to the illustrative drawing by distinguishing reference characters, it will be observed that the companion parts of the tool dles 4. The levers are disposed in crossed or intersecting relationship and pivotally connected together as indicated at 5. The outer end portions of the handles are twisted as indicated at 6 and bent into spaced paralleljaws 7 disposed at right angles to the handle. The jaws tenninate in shaft embracing grips of generally semicircular form so fashioned as to embrace the pump shaft (not shown).
