Inthe business of sellingoil it is a common practice for the oil distributor to deliver his oil .in drums or cans which are the property otthe distributor and whichjare returned-to the distributor after the oil has been sold to be refilled and'used again. One ,diiliculty which the distributors have encountered has been due to the tact that dealers 'or'managers of "oil stations. it they are dishonest; will refill-a drum or can" with inferior and cheaper oil and sell it as the product of the original distributor.
The obiectoi the present invention is to furnishan oil can or eonti'iiner which is so constructed that it practically impossible in 1 the dealer or selierito refill the can in this way.
My invention consists in providing the oil drum .or container witha reed pipe through i which the drum is to be fllledor emptied and which is furnished with a checkvalveopening outwardly permitthe discharge of oil from the drum but fclosingjto preventthe drum from be-v ing refilled. ,Thevalve member or the check valve is .provided with a removable 9 which can be unscrewed from the valve member by inserti sa le! 1 a thmvsh t e feed ip constructed to enmewiththe movable cap'and" enable the, cap to be unscrewed trom the check valve. The pin is pressed inwardly by a coil spring 20 placed in the hole in the projection 17 which spring can be adjusted by the nut 21 which is adapted to be screwed into the outer end 01 the hole or aperture inthe projection 1'7. The stem 14 of the key is made hollow so that it has a central passage as shown in Fig. 3 to receive the pin 22 which is adapted to be moved up and down in the key for purposes hereinafter explained. The upper end oi the pin 22 is .provided with a handle 23. The upper end of the teed tube 2 is provided with a vent 24 to permit the inflow, oi air when the oil is being removed from the drum. This is shown in Fig. 2 and is arranged so that itwill be left open when the pump 4 is inserted but will be closedwhenzthe drum has been filled and is closed by the cover to be screwed into the upper' endoi the feed tube 2 aiter'the drum has been filled and is ready for shipment.

In this particular form or modification the upper end of the cap is provided witha pin 2'1 which is adapted to register with and enter a hole'or recess 26 in the socket member oi the key. In this construction when the key is inserted to move the cap it must be turned in the tube 2 until the pin2'7- enters the recess 26.
In this application I have shown'and described a form of check valve which I believe to be new, namely, one having a valve member provided with a removable cap (or opening or closing a passage in check valves but I reserve the same in a separate application.
Myinventionis especially applicable to drum I or containers used for selling oil but it is obvious that these drums or containers may be used tor any liquid.

The combination with a drum or container or a feed pipe suitably supported inside the drum, a check valve in the feed pipe opening outwardly and placed a considerable distance from the outer end of the reed pipe and provided with a removable cap and a key adapted to be inserted in the feed pipe and to engage with the removable cap whereby the cap may be removed and the drum refilled through the feed pipe.
6. The combination with a drum or container of a feed pipe suitably supported inside the drum, a check valve in the feed pipe opening outwardly and placed a considerable distance from the outer end or the feed pipe, the valve proper or the check valve having a screw-threaded opening therein, a removable cap adapted to be screwed into the said opening so as to close the same, a key adapted tobeinsertedintheteedpipeandtoengagewith the removable cap whereby the removable can my be unscrewed by the key and removed from the valve leaving an opening therein through which the drum may be refilled.
