A rack bar 8 is slidingly mounted on the member 3 at thebottozn of the window frame. It. is provided with a rack 9 along an up-turned inner edge. The outer edgeoftherack bar 8 is beveled at 10 and a guide plate 11 having a similar bevel is secured by screws l2'on the member 3. Thus the rack bar is slidingly mounted in. the bottom of the windowframe. i A gear segment 13-extends throughan opening- 14 in the member 2 and meshes with the rack 9. The. .gear segment is ,carriedby a mounting 15 having the upper and lower plates 16 and '17 respectively. These plates are secured together 3 of the window frame by screws 31.
