3 Claims.
This invention relates to illuminated displays and has for the primary object, the provision of a rack or stand for supporting a plurality or" groupedelements bearing labels of goods or merchandise, certain ones of which may be intermittently illuminated to attract attention to the device and provide a display which will be pleasing and attractive to the observer.
With these and other objects in view this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination ancl arrangement of parts to be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation illustrating anilluminated display constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a side elevation partly in section illustrating the same. Y
Figure 3 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view illustrating one of the label supporting elements and the illuminating means therefor.
Figure 4 is a sectional 'View taken on the line 4 4V of Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a perspective view illustrating one of the label supporting elements.
Figure 6 Vis a rear elevationrillustrating the stand or support partly broken away to show the electrical illuminating means. y
Figure '7` is a front elevation illustrating a modied form of invention. Y
Figure 8 is a side elevation illustrating the same.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral 1 indicates a substantially triangular shaped casing, the bottom wall thereof extending beyond the front wall 2Vfor the purpose of providing to the casing a comparatively large size base 3 so that the casing will maintain an upright position when positioned on a support. A plurality of label supporting elements 4 are stacked or arranged on the base 3 in front of the casing in pyramidal formation and each element is detachably secured to the front wall 2 of the casing by a fastener 5. The elements 4 are shaped to represent containers or cans employed for the shipment and sale of food products and similar merchandise. Each element 4 is surrounded byV a label advertising a particular line of goods and certain of said elements have portions of the side walls cut away to form openings 6 and 7.` The openings 7 are arranged next to the front Ywall of the casing to permit electric lamps 8 to extend into the apertured elements V4,
the electric lamps being carried by electrical xtures 9 secured to the front wall of the casing. The other openings 6 are closed by a transparent material 10 arranged in rear of the respective labels so that when the respective lamps are illuminated the light rays thereof will indirectly illuminate the labels rendering them attractive and more easily read by an observer.
The rear wall of the casing 1 is of translucent material and may have printed or otherwise applied thereon certain advertisements. The xtures 9 are arranged in an electric circuit and another electric circuit is provided for electric lamps 12' arranged within the casing for the purpose of illuminating the advertisement on the rear panel of the casing. The circuitsare connected to circuit makers and breakers 11 which are electrically connected, as shown at 11, to a common electrical output 12, the latter receiving electricity from any suitable source.
Referring to my modiiied form of invention the casing 13 has its front wall arranged in stepped l formation with rows of elements 4 positioned thereon and it is preferable that the elements decrease in size by rows for the purpose of indicating on display the different lsized containersin which a certain food product or the like may be obtained. VThe steps of the casing 13 Vary in size in accordance with the rows of the elements as shown in Figure 8.
The transparent material 10 employed in certain of the elements 4 may be of any desired character and the openings 6 are of such a size so as to illuminate certain portions of labels and such portions of the labels which are the most attractive and giving the greatest information to a certain product.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, as claimed.
Having described the invention, I claim:
i.. An illuminated display comprising a stand, a plurality or" label bearing elements in rows and carried by one wall of the stand, the opposite wall of said stand being of translucent material and beang an advertisement, illuminating means carried by said stand for illuminating the interior thereorn and some of said elements.
2. A display device comprising a substantially triangular shaped casing, a plurality o-label bearing elements removably secured upon one bearing elements of hollow formation secured to a wall of the stand in rows with said rows arranged one above the other, each of said elements representing a container and provided with openings and one opening closed by a label on the container, and the other opening receiving the illuminating means on the stand.
RALPH N. HENDERSON.
