Now, if the arm 70 is moved to the dotted line position, this Will cause the sprocket 79V to be moved a very substantial distance clockwise and then, With a reversal of the direction of rotation of the crank disc 52 and crank pin 53 produced by movement of the clutch member 29 into engagement with the gear element 3l, the digger devices will be caused to traverse their orbit in such a manner that there will be a tendency to dig` into a standing tace and shovel the material over the top of the digger teeth 61 and blade 60 and downward onto the shovel.
From the foregoing description it Will be evident that l have provided an improved mechanism for controlling the orbit-al movement of a digger device in which there is a complete elimination of all connections With the digger element except adjacent the extremity of the shaft which supports this element. Accordingly there are no links or the like to interfere with either the digging or the breaking-down operations and the entire u'idti'i of the digging mechanism is unobstructed. By providing points 90 as indicated upon the ends of the arms ll and l2 it is possible to secure a ramming action in addition to the digging act-ion which has been described.
While there is in this application specifi cally described one form which this invention may assume in practice, it will be understood that this form of the same is shown for purposes of illustration and that the invention may be modified and embodied in various other forms Without departing from its spirit or the scope ofthe appended claims.
That l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A loading machine comprising, in combination, a frame, elongated supporting members, continuously rotating means for actuating said supporting members, means L ends of the latter, and means for controlling the angular position of saidY engaging means relative to said supporting members including a. pairot oscillatable elements providing moment arms one of Which is directly connected to said engaging means, means t'or operatively connecting said elements together, vand means supported by said frame and connectedto the second one of said elements for controlling the position thereof.
2. A loading machine comprising,in combination, a frame,- elongated sup-porting members slidably guided on said frame, actuating means for said supporting members including a pin movable about an offset axis, material engaging means carried by and pivotable With respect to the outer end of the supporting members, and means tor controlling said engaging means to determine' the angular-relation thereotl to said supporting members including a pair of elements providing moment arms and both of which are carried by and movable With one of said supporting members, one of said elements being directly connected to said engaging means, linkages operativelyv connected to thevother of said elements and to said frame, and means operatively connecting said elements together whereby upon movement of said elongated supporting members the angular motion imparted to said second element by said linkages will be transmitted substantially entirely to the engaging means through said element Which is connected thereto.
3. 4A loading machine comprising, in combination, a frame, elongated supporting members having a guiding slot therein, means carried by said lframe and projecting into said slot for supporting and guiding said supporting members, actuating means for said supporting members normally constantly rotatable in one direction and having a pivotal connection With said supporting members atpoints in the latter spaced from the guiding slots, a material engaging element .pivotally supported at the outer end of said supporting members, a sprocket connected to said element, a second sprocket sup` ported by said supporting members at a distance from said other sprocket, flexible means operatively connecting said sprockets, linkage mechanism connected to said second sprocket and to a relatively liXed point on said frame whereby control of said material engaging element by said linkage andsprocket mechanism is eected upon operation ot said actuating means.
4. A loading machine comprising, in combination, a frame, elongated supporting members having a guiding slot therein, means carried by said frame and projecting into said slot for supporting and guiding said supporting members, actuating means for said supporting members normally constantly rotatable in one direction and having pivotal connections with said supporting members at points oisetfrom the axis of rotation of said actuating means, a material engaging element pivotally supported at the outer end of said supporting members, a sprocket connected to said element, a second sprocket supported by said supporting mem-` ber at a distance from said kother sprocket, a flexible means operatively connecting said sprockets, linkage mechanism operatively connected to said second sprocket and to a relatively iixed point on said frame whereby control of said engaging element by said linkage and sprocket mechanism is eifected upon operation of said actuating means, and means for shifting the location of the iixed point of said linkage mechanism relative to said frame.

A loading machine comprising, in combination, a material engaging blade, elon gated supporting members therefor carried by said frame, actuating means for said supporting members to effect movement of said blade about a closed `orbital path, and means for controlling the inclination of said blade during its movementaround said path including a sprocket directly connected to said blade adj acent one of said supporting members, a second sprocket carried by said latter supporting member, an endless flexible element connecting said sprockets, and linkages `connected to said second sprocket and to a iixed point on said frame. v

A loading machine comprising, in combination, a material engaging blade, elongated supporting members therefor carried by said frame, actuating means for said supporting members adaptedto effect movement of said blade about a closed orbital path, means for controlling the inclination of said blade during its movement around said path including a sprocket directly connected to said blade adjacent one of said elongated supporting members, a. second sprocket carried by said latter supporting member, an endless flexible element connectingv said sprockets, linkages connected to said second sprocket and to a iXed point on said frame, and means for adjusting said fixed point including a lever adapted to have a plurality of iixed positions relative to said frame.
