attaching mechanism ofthe cap. relative to the body or'aligning featuresto properly position the latter. V. f- 1 Second, to'provlde a closure for radiators and the like, which may be quickly removed and applied, the opening beingeffectively sealed and the closurelbeing compactand projecting, but slightly above theneck to which it is applied. q Objects relating to "details and economies of my invention will appearj from the'description to follow; The invention is defined and pointed out inthe claims. A structure. which is a preferred embodiment of my'invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Referringto the drawing, numerall indicates the filler neck ofan automobile radiator having aninturned flange 2 at its upper end providing an annular convex gasket seat. On the inner edge of the flange 2 are provided opposed segmental cammed keepers 3 having 'diametricallyopposed stops 4 at their ends.
, The closure or cap 5 comprises an ornamentalbody member 6 having 2. depending 'coa'cting with the shell 8 eri heralflan e 7 p p D The body of the radiator (not shown).
Thesresilient sheet metal closure disk 15 isprovided with openings 16 receiving stationary lug 10 and the adjustable lug 11. A p
gasket-17 is interposed between the closure disk 15 and the end of the stud 9. The clolocking member 20 which is provided with an opening 21 receiving the stationary stud 1O and a slot 22 for receiving the eccentric head 13 of the adjustable lug 11. The latch plate .20 and the closure disk 15 are secured to the. stud 9, by the screw 23 which clamps the spring washer 2 L intoengagement with the latch plate. The latch plate is provided with opposed resilient locking or keeper engaging fingers 25- for coact-ion with the cammed keepers of the radiator neck 1. The comparative resillence between the closuredisk and the locking lingers 18 preferably such that the disk is weaker or more resilient so that when the two are subjected to the same bending force the disk will be the first to yield unless'prevented or stopped by the integral stops 26 depending from the body member 6, which are disposed above and near. the rim of he closure disk 15, as illustrated by Fig. 4.
A shim 27 of'copper or the like is disposed between the gasket and the closure disk 15 ad acent the depending flange 18and in vertical alignment withthejgasket.-* The shim I The latch plate 20 is adjusted onthe de-.
pending stud 9 by loosening the screw 23 and turning the adjustable lug 11 to the right or left, depending upon the direction of the adjustment. The eccentric head 13 of 'the adjustable lug 11 works in the slot'22 of the latch plate to swing it around the stationary lug 10, Fig. 7 shows the latch plateconeot- 1y adjusted for correctly aligning the -for- Wardly projecting ornament 28 ofthe radiakeeper engaging memberhaving keeper entor cap. Fig "8shows the latch plate adjusted that the ornamentis "inclined-"to the left; Dotted lines 29and30 of.Fi ,.2!indi-- oate the approximate range of adjustment of the device In prior devicesfithasbeen rather difiicult to assemb e the radiator cap so that the ornament28 assumes its correct position when the cap is positioned :on-rthe jradiaitor rnec'k.
