This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in lubricating systems for internal combustion engines and more particularly to the construction of drip spoon carried by the diaphragm whereby the oil drawn through the diaphragm by the sucv tion of the engine will drop one drop at a time in order to allow the drops to be counted in order to record the amount of lubri-k cant being fed to the cylinders of the engine.
The natureof this invention is a slight improvement over the drip spout disclosed in an application filed by Vernon W. rIhompson and Burt N. Pierce, December 8, 1930, Serial Number 500,928.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a drip spoon which is provided with a trough portion and a tongue, the trough portion being adapted tobe secured to the diaphragm by an apertured plug through which the lubricant passes into the trough portion and then from the trough portion onto the tongue portion in order to allow it to drop a drop at a time in front of the sight opening.

l/Vith this construction the drip spoon can be readily secured in position on the diaphragm and removed therefrom and by employing an apertured plug, l form a valve seat for a needle valve l0 which regulates the passage of the lubricant passing from a source of supply to the engine.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that I have provided a lubricating system for an internal combustion engine cooperating with a needle valve for regulating the supply of lubricant to the engine, said diaphragm carrying a drip spoon locked in its adjusted position by a plug and nut.
