This invention relates to improvements in attachable refuse collectors and separators for vegetable paring machines and the pri- I A mary object of this improvement is to pro.- duce a combined collector and separator that is adapted'to be applied toxany of the various types of paring'machines now muse. From Figures 1 and 2 it will be observed that this collector 12 has its bottom 21 in clined towards an outlet 22 and the outlet is closed by an attachable and detachable member 23. The refuse in'a peeling machine comprises of'course the ground peeling and parts of the vegetable, which are of greater specific gravity than the watermixed therewith. As a consequence the refuse gravitates to the lower part of the separator, and in operation the heavy parts slide down the bottom 21 which declines from the water outlet to the refuse outlet 22-. Also in a separator for peeling machines, it is necessary that it. have a large refuse receiving chamber 12 and a small water outlet for the purpose of giving the device a capacity that adapts it as a separator to co-act with a peeling machine, and the bottom being declined away from the water outlet to the refuse outlet causes :the

It will also be understood that these machines are usually used in hotels and large establishments and that their use is not con tinuous and hence there is ample opportunity to clean this collector and separator of the solid matter collected therein.
In Figures 1 and 2 the upper end 28 of the inlet pipe 13 is shown bolted to a pipe or nipple 29 that extends upward through the bottom of the base '5. However the different paringmachines are differently construct'ed so far as the outlet pipe isconcerned. When the base 5 has an opening in its vertical wallthen the collector can be connected with the base by means of a screwthreaded nipple 30 as in Figure 3 that screws into the side wall 31 of the paring machine and the other andouter' end of the nipple screws into the side wall 32 of the collector and as shown in Figure 3 there is anydesired form of nut 33 that screws on the outer projecting end ofthe nipple 3O thus clamping the collector and the base ti' 'htl to ether g y c compressing between them a suitable packing- 3 thus making a tight joint; 1 v In-other instances it may be more convenient-to attach this collector to the base5 by bolts 35 which pass through the wall 34: of the-collector and thewall 31 of the base there being between the base and the collector a suitable washer 34; as shown in F igure 3. r In Figure 5 the collector 12 is shown attached to thebase 5 by means of bolts 36 that passthrough the vertical wall34: of the collector and 31' of the base portion, asuitable washer 37 beingplaced between the parts. In Figure 6 another form is shown for connecting'the collector with the base. In this construction the base of the machine has a pipe '38 extending from it-and in that eventsuitable clamping bolts 39 pass through the vertical wall 34 0f the collector and the enlarged end 40 of the pipe 38,- there being the usual washer 41 located betweenthe said parts. i
While I have described thistinvention'in detail yet I do not desire to limit myself to these details, the limitations being indicated in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to secure Letters Pat- 1. A separator adapted to receive the refuse from a vegetable paring machine comprising a substantially rectangular receptacle having a perforated vertical partition "located near one end of the receptacle thus I dividing said vessel into a small chamberand a large chamber, a water outlet located in the lower end of said small chamber, a refuse'inlet at the upper portionof the large chamber through which refuse passes from chamber located in the upper portion ofthe paring machine, and the large chamber having at its lowest portion an outlet for the solid portion of the refuse, substantially as described.-
2. A separator adapted to receive the ,ref- H use from a paring machine and separate the water contained therein from the solid portion of the refuse, comprising substantially a rectangular vessel elongated horizontally divided into a small chamber at one end and the opposite end formed into a large chamber, a vertically arranged perforatedewall located near one end forming said small chamher in said-vessel at oneend thereof and a 15 water outlet located in the lower portion of said small chamber, the bottom of the large chamber depressed and having. an outlet at its lower portion, a refuse inlet for the large said chamber, whereby refuse flows through the inlet into the large chamber and the.
heavy portions of the refuse sinking in the chamber and the water from the refuse flowing through the said perforated division wall between the small and the large chamber and through the outlet thereof, the part combined for the purpose set forth-.--
