My invention relates to stock quotation boards and particularly to increasing the visibility of the signals or indicators of such boards.

In stock quotation boards of the automatic type, provided with indicators or signals for displaying the quotations of the various stocks, it has been customary to arrange the indicators in rows parallel to the board or wall of the room with the displayed figures also set parallel to the face of the board. This results in the figures displayed by the indicators at the extreme ends of the 'board being illegible to an observer located in the diagonally opposite corner of the room.

This illegibility is due to the sharp angle at which the observer views the indicators, and becomes quite pronounced in the case of large boards located in large rooms.

The object of my invention is to increase the visibility of the indicators by tilting or positioning the indicators so that the faces of the displayed figures are inclined toward the center of the board. The indicators are gradually inclined in such a mann-er that the indicators most remote from the center of the board are inclined at the greatest angle to the face of the board.

Arranging the indicators at the proper angle will materially increase the average visibility of all the indicators.

Various features of my invention will be pointed out in the description to follow. l

Figure 3 shows a row of indicators arranged in accordance with my invention.

Referring to Figs. l and 2, the indicator which may be of any standard type comprises a plurality of number wheels on which, as shown in Fig. 1, the numerals 2, 5, 8, 7 and 4 are displayed. The numerals appear in the openings or windows 2l in the cover or casing 23. The mechanism for operating the number wheels will not be described7 as it is not necessary for an understanding of my invention.

Referring to Fig. 3,1 have shown a row of indicators or signals marked l1 to 30 inclusive, associated with a board l0, upon which they are mounted. For a Y complete stock quotation board there would be a plurality of such rows, the number being dependent upon the different stocks to be quoted or displayed.

It will be noted that indicators 11 to 20 are located to the left of the center line 60 of the board 10, while indicators 21 to 30 are located to the right. Beginning with indicators 20 and 21 and ending with indicators 11 and 30, it will be seen that the inclined positions gradually increase and that the two most remote indicators 1l and 30 are inclined at the greatest angle to the face of the board. The angle of inclination of the various indicators decreases toward the center of the board.

Figs. 1 and 2 show the angular position of indicator 14 which is represented in the row of Fig. 3.

For illustration, the positions of various observers in the room 50 is indicated at 41, 42, 43, 44 and 45.

It will be noted that the observer at position 42 to the left of the room has a clear view of the faces of indicators, the angle of vision being indicated by the lines extending to indicators 11,20 and 30 which occupy, respectively, positions to the extreme left, the center and the eXtreme right of the row.

The observer occupying position 41 in the center of the room likewise has a clear view of the same indicators.

With this arrangement, the observers at all of the positions indicated have a clear view of all indicators and the numerals or characters are clearly legible to all.

What is claimed is:

1. A stock quotation board comprising a plurality of visual signals arranged in a horizontal row, the signals toward the ends of the row angularly positioned to incline toward the center of the board, a shield provided with a window for each signal, said windoWs occupying angular positions in accordance with the angular positions of their respective signals. i

2. A stock quotation board comprising a plurality of visual signals arranged in a horizontal row, each of said signals having an angularl inclination in a horizontal plane, a Window for each of said signals also having a corresponding angular inclination.

3. A stock quotation board comprising a plurality of visual signals arranged in a horizontal row, and a Window for each signal having an angular inclination in the horizontal plane, and each signal being movable to present an indicating` portion thereof opposite the Window therefor'.

4. A stock quotation board comprising a plurality of visual signals arranged in a horizontal row, a shield provided with a Window for each signal, the Windows towards the ends of the row being angularly positioned to incline toward the center of the board, and the signals being movable to present an indicating portion thereof opposite the `Window therefor.
