APPARATUS FOR ACCOMMODATING OBJECT S TO BE DELIVERED OR HANDED OUT Filed Sept. 8, 1930 E .7; Q3 I77 ver7to r I fi en 8216122131 Lottru/C Patented Aug. 9, 1932 iUlilITlEID STATES PATENT OFFICE JEGEN SEIDELIN LOTTRUP, OF COPENHAGEN, DENMARK APIPARAT'US FOR AOOOMMODATING OBJECTS TO BE DELIVERED! OR HANDED OUT Application filed September 8, 1930, Serial No. 480,534, and in Denmark September 9, 1929.
. tion at the time of delivery, so that the coins by gravity slide down the same.
The objects of the invention is to provide an apparatus of the kind in question, which takes up a limited space only, that the apparatus can be operated by one hand only, that it can be made double acting, so that it can be operated from both sides, and furthermore it should be easy to handle and absolutely safe and reliable in operation.
The apparatus indicated by the present invention is distinguished by the fact, that a flap is hinged to the receiving plate, directly or indirectly at each end or one end, which fiap serves to act upon the receiving plate in order to bring the same into a sloping position, and at the same time terms a sliding plane for the objects to be delivered.
The drawing represents schematically various embodiments of the invention.
Figure 1 shows an apparatus according to the invention in normal position,
Figure 2 the same in position for delivery,
Figure 8 another embodiment,
Figure 4 is a third embodiment in normal position,
Figure 5 the same in one of the positions of delivery,
Figure 6 a front view of one of the flaps of the apparatus and I Figure 7 the same seen from below in Fig ure 6. p
In the embodiments shown the apparatus consists of a receiving plate a, to which, at opposite ends and at a distance from the edges, are hinged flaps Z2 shaped as two armed levers movable on fixed pivots 0. In the embodiments shown in Figures 1 to 3 the flaps are hinged directly to the plate by means of pivots (Z.
The normal position of the receiving plate a is the horizontal position. In this position the plate is held by springs not shown in the drawing. These springs also serve to return the plate to normal position. The normal position may be secured by stops.
In the embodiment shown the receiving plate a is supported solely by the flaps Z). The plate a is brought from the normal horizontal position to the sloping posit-ion of delivery by an outwardly directed pull acting upon the lower end of one of the flaps Z).
hen the apparatus shown in Figure 1 is acted upon as indicated by an arrow the moving system consisting of the plate a and the flaps b is brought to the position shown in Figure 2. The plate a is thereby brought into a so sloping position that coins etc. placed on the plate gravity slide down the plate and further over the left hand flap 5, now lying in continuation of the plate a. The sliding coins are caught by the hand operating the apparatus. The best method of use is by means or the fingers to act upon the back of the lower part of the flap which for this purpose may be furnished with a downwardly inclined flange is. When loosening hold of the apparatus the moving system is returned to normal position by the previously mentioned springs.
In the apparatus shown in Figures 1 and 2 a fixed frame 6 is shown, which does not move together with the receiving plate a. In normal position the frame e forms an upright flange along the edges of the plate a thus preventing the coins from sliding out over the edge when carelessly thrown on the plate. As shown in Figure 2 the frame 6 does not impair with the movement of the receiving plate a.
In Figure 3 the frame e is firmly connected on to the receiving plate a and so shaped that the coin can slide over the frame at opposite sides. To prevent a free tall oi the coins the flaps 7) are bent in this. case, so that the coins having passed the inclined flange of the frame, slide over on the flap. In Figure 3 one of the positions oi? delivery is shown in dotted lines.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in Figures 4 and 5 the flaps I) are not hinged directly to the receiving plate a, but the connection is established by links j, termed by plates arranged beneath the plate a substantially parallel to the same and in such a manner that they from normal position can be swung in one direction only. Sin'iilarly, the flaps b are swingable in one direction only from the normal position of Figure 4:, movement in the opposite direction being prevented by fixed stops 9. Furthermore these stops serve to fix the plate a. in normal position, as the plate cannot be brmight out of horizontal position by a pressure at its upper side.
By acting upon the left hand flap 7) in. the direction indicated by the arrow in Figure 4c the apparatus is brought into the position of delivery, Figure 5. During the movement to this position the left hand link 7 remains abutting against the lower de ot the plate a. The right hand flap 7) does not swing as in the previously shown embodiments in the clockwise direction but remains stationary in its posit" on resting against the corresponding stop 9. On the other hand the right hand link swings in the clockwise direction relatively to the corresponding flap, so that the right hand end of the plate a is raised to a greater extent than in the embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2.
As shown in Figures 6 and 7 the flaps b can be provided with upstanding flanges h, converging downwards, so that the coins are carried together while moving downwards. It may be preferred to give this flange 1 2 such a shape, as shown in Figure 7, that they at the top join the flap 5 at a sharp angle, while at the lower end the joirt is rounded. This rounding 7' can then decrease upwards.
The invention is not restricted to the embodiments shown in the drawing but these embodiments can be altered in various ways without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus fully described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. An apparatus for accommodating objects to be delivered comprising a normally horizontal receiving plate and at least one flap positively connected to one end of the said plate, said flap serving for acting upon the said plate to bring the same into a sloping position and formin a :"li ding plane for the objects to be delivered.
