Description

Jim 21, 1932.
L. E. POWELL RING Filed Dec. 27, 1930 INVENTOR Leonard E. PoWeH B. AT OR N EYTS v Patented June 21, 1932 UNITED STATES LEONARD E. POWELL, F KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN RING- Application filed December 27, 1930. Serial No. 505,044.
The present invention relates to rings and more particularly to finger rings having a swivel connection for attachment to the end of a string to whose other end is secured a toy.
The main objects of the invention are to provide a ring which may be readily and conveniently adjustably fitted to the finger; to provide such a ring which has a swivel connection for attachment with a string to whose other end is secured a toy; and, to provide a finger ring which is flexible or resilient.
An illustrative embodiment of the inventionis shown in the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device showing the manner in which it may be used;
Figure 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the finger ring and a portion of the cord to which it is secured;
Figure 3 is a modified form of the ring; and
Figure 4 is a second modified form of ring.
Referring to the drawing in which like parts are designated by the same numerals in the several views, a toy 1, here shown as a Yo-Yo, is secured to a cord 2, in any suitable manner.
The other end of the cord is secured to the loop 8 which swivelly depends from the finger ring 4. Referring to Figure 2, the device there shown comprises a flexible strap of any suitable material having an aperture 5 at one end thereof adapted to receive the other end 6 of the strap whereby the strap may be formed into an adjustable finger ring 4 by bending the end 6 of the strap back upon itself.
The ring shown in Figure 3 is of any suit able material but is not adjustable as to size for the wearer while the ring shown in Figure 4 is of rubber or other suitable resilient material.
It will thus be seen that a ring is herein shown and described which is adjustable or adjusts itself to the finger of the wearer and that the depending swivelly connected cord loop prevents the cord from becoming twisted when playing with the toy.
While but one specific embodiment of this invention has been herein shown and described, it will be understood that numerous details of the construction shown may be altered or .omitted without departing from the spirit of this invention as defined by the following claim.
I claim:
The combination with a cord having a toy secured at one end thereof, of a finger ring connected to the other end of the cord and consisting of a flexible strap located at said other end of the cord and provided at one end with an aperture and having its otherv end portion of a width to pass through the said aperture for adjusting the strap to vary the size of the finger ring to fit a finger, the end of the strap which is passed through the aperture being adapted to be bent back upon itself to secure the strap in its adjusted position and retain the finger ring in the desired size, and a swivel carried by the ring adjacent the said aperture and connecting the cord with the ring, said swivel lying beyond the inner periphery of the ring so as to be out of contact with the finger.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand at Kalamazoo, Michigan, this 20 day of December, 1930. V
LEONARD E. POWELL.
