This invention relates to rotary deep impressing printing machines.
An object of the invention is to completely remove the color. which remains upon the surface of the cylinder on raising the doctor or that smearing cannot take place.
. The working tools used for this purpose besides the usual doctor or scraper comprise a second tool both of which work onthe lower most conveniently at the lowest point thereof so that the colour removed by the doctor or scraper does not return back to the printing plate and cannot therefore obtain access to the cylinder space. It flows directly from the doctor or scraper downwardly into the colour trough. The working tools are so controlled that on the one hand thedoctor or scraper is applied to the plate before the beginning of printing and removed from the plate after the end of printing and on the other hand the second working tool is removed after passing the application point of the doctor or scraper and is again set into operation between the end of printing and the removal point of the doctor or scraper.
As the second working tool a stripping roller can be used which is rotated in a direction opposite to that of the cylinder, the upper surface thereof being of non-porous material, as for example brass.
A stripping plate can be arranged on the doctor or scraper so as .to remove the color therefrom. The arrangement is such that the doctor or scraper does not come into contact with the stripping plate on rinsing or cleaning of the said doctor or scraper.

A printing plate 2 is sprung or tensioned 4 over the printing cylinder 1 and the said plate may be so constructed or of such a form that its ends abutagainst each other or the said plate may be of such a form as to leave a space 3 in the cylinder and between the ends of the plate so that the plate 2 can be tensioned by means of a known arrangement which would be disposed in the cylinder space 3. The usual colour coating roller 11 serves for coating the printing plate 2 with colour to which colour coating roller the colour is delivered from the colour trough 12 by means of a colour carrying roller 13. The colour removed by the doctor or scraper 4 is introduced into the colour containing receptacle by means of a light sheet metal plate. The rollers 11 and 13 are rockably and disengageably arranged and they are supported for this purpose in lever like, bearings 14 which are rockable about the axis 15 and are under the influence of the spring. The levers 14 are controlled by an eccentric 16 on which a roller on the lever 14 runs. The colour coating roller 11 is so controlled that it is applied shortly before the beginning of the design and is removed immediately after the end of the design.

The application and removal of the roller 24 is controlled in the known manner by an eccentric 27 on which a roller 28 of the bearing 26 runs and thereby applies and removes the roller 24. It is driven in any suitable manner from the drive of the cylinder 1 through intermediate gear wheels 29.

A rotary deep impressing printing ma chine, including a scraper for removing the greater'par-t of the color strip, a stripping roller for the removal of the remainder of the color strip, said roller at the line of contact being movable in a direction opposite to the direction of movement of the cylinder.

A rotary deep impressing printing machine, including a scraper for removing the greater part of the color strip, a stripping roller provided for the removal of theremainder of the color strip, means for mov-- ng said stripping roller at the line of contact in a direction opposite to the direction of movement of said c'linder, and a special doctor or scraper for. reeing said stripping roller from color. A rotary deep impressing printing ma chine, including a scraper for removing the greater part of the color strip, a stripping roller provided for the removal of the remainder of the color strip, means for moving said stripping roller at the line of contact in a direction opposite to the direction of movement of said cylinder, a special doctor or scraper for freeing the stripping roller-from color, and a color holder or trough disposed under the stripping roller, so that the latter runs permanently in the color in the said color trough or holder. 7
11. A rotary deep impressing printing machine, including a stripping roller provided for the removal of the color strip and moving at the line of contact in the direction opposite to the direction of movement of said cylinder, a special doctor or scraper for freeing.

A rotary deep impressing printing machine comprising means for removing the greater part of the color strip, a stripping roller for the removal of the remainder of the color strip, means for operating said roller in-timed cooperation with'saidmeans for removing the greater part of the color strip,
and means for moving said roller at the line of contact in a direction opposite to the direction of movement'of the cylinder.
