From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be seen that I have provided an eX- ceedingly simple structure whereby the desired flat top range may be attained and the burner 'grids protected when not in use While, when the range is in use, the cover Will be supported out of the Way Without appreciably increasing the bulk of the range.

A cooking range having burner grids and having an open top vertically extending cupboard immediatelyadjacent its burner grids, brackets mounted in the cupboard at the open top thereof and extending partly across the same, and a cover receivable freely in the cupboard and provided with a marginal flange adapted to rest on said brackets and support the cover in the cupboard flush With the burner grids and to engage said brackets when Withdrawn from the cupboard Whereby the cover may be swung about the brackets to extend over and rest upon the burner grids.
