Objects pertaining to details and economies ofvconstruction an'd'operation of my inlven'tion will appear from thethel description to follow. The invention is defined and pointed out inithe claims.-.
A structure preferred" mbodi:
ment of my inventi'on'is illustrated inthe ac:
1o being an adaptationto the projecting neck com an in drawin s formin a artof this l b b 7 b v V application, in which: I I Flgrl 1s a fragmentary v ew of a radiator cap embodying the features ofmy inventlon.

Fig. 3 is a horizontal seotion'on line of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary perspective View I showing certain of the parts in separated relation, these parts being enlarged to better show structural details thereof.
in the drawings similar reference characters refer to; similar parts throughout the I several views.
' Referring tothe drawings, 1 represents the externally threaded neck of a radiator which is provided with an inturned flange 2 form- 1 ing a gasket-seat. 3 indicatesthe shell of the radiator. I
l My improved cap or closurecomprises a body member 4 internally threaded to engage the neck and being locked in position thereby by means of a set screw 5, this set screw h'aving a head portion adapted tobe broken off 7 afterthe body member ispositioned:
" VG- l v a with the groove, thelower wall of the groove The body memb r is Provided with a downi 'wardly facing shoulder 6 clamping the gasket T arranged on the gasket seat 2. To effect I a more perfect sealing, the face of the shoulder 6 has annular grooves 8 therein. The body memberis also provided with an I upwardly facing annularcha'nnel 9 in which I arrange a gasket supporting ring 10 having a plurality ofspaced lingers 11- whereby the gasket 12 is resiliently or yieldingly sup- ,v ported. I The gasket itselfis preferably of yielding material although thus yieldingly f I supported, it may be of fibre, an-dat the same time an effective seal is provided for the cover I 13 which has an annularjrib l lcoacting with the gasket.
;, The cover 13 is pivotally connected to the body member, the pintle 15 of the covered gaging av vertically elongated hole 16 in the pintleear 17-see 2. This permits aL-m I limited vertical movement of the cover when 7 closed and resting or supported by the cover gasket, 12., A stop 18 is provided on the ear I 17 to limit the openingswing of the cover. I I The cover is locked in its closed position and clamped upon the cover. gasket by means of the locking ring- 19 rotatably mounted the outwardly facing groove 20 of theboidy member, the locking ring having a plurality of inwardly projecting lugs 21 engaging inthisq so To permit engagement of these lugs hasaseries of slots 22 therein through which the lugs may be passed. After thermg 1s in position with these lugs in engagement, a stop :pin 23 is inserted through the groove tocoact :with one of the lugs. 1
,Thebody member is also provided with'a I pluralityofjrecesses Q l'adap ted toreceive'the keepers 25 on' the cover, these keepers'having V slots "27' therein adapted'to "align with the groove 20 so that the lockingring may be en-' p i i Jgaged and disengaged with the" keepersby a rotative movement, "thereby clamping the cover downwardly jupon the gasket and locking it; V The locking ringhas inwai'dly facingfslot's 26 which may be aligned withthe remisses-24:. The 'pivotfcon'nection permitting I theliinited vand verticalmovement, allows for .1 0 J r Cil adjustment of the cover so that it bears uniformly on the cover gasket.
The cover is quickly released or locked by a rotative movement of the locking ring,at the same time it is very secure as an eiiective joint or seal.
I have illustrated my improvements in an adaptation to a projecting type of radiator. However, it is well adapted for embodiment in the flat type. I have not .atteinpted toil.- lustrate such an adaptation herein as'it is'believed that this disclosure will enable these skilled in the art to embody or adapt my improvements as may be desired.
Having thus described my invention, what 'I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. The combination of a body member, an upwardly facing annular gasket channel, a spring supported annular gasket supporting member arranged in said channel, a cover gasket supported by said gasket supporting menroer, a cover having an annular rib on its under side coasting with said cover gasket, a pivotal connection for cover to said body member permitting vertical movement with the cover when closed, a plurality of keepers on said cover, and a locking member on said body adapted to coact with all of said keepers.
2. In a structure of the class described, the combination or" a body member having an annular groove therein, a cover pivotally mounted on said body member having limited vertical movement when the cover'is closed, a
spring supported gasket for said cover, a plurality of keepers on said cover and a locking member rotatabiy mounted on said body member coacting with all of said keepers.
3. In a structure of the class described, the combination of a body member provided with an upwardly facing gasket, a cover 'pivotally mounted on said body member for limited vertical movement when the cover is closed, a plusaid cap.

7. A radiator closure comprising a base having a slot therein, a .cap connected there- .to having a projection thereon adapted to be received in said slot and a rim mounted on said base capable of limited rotary movement having means thereon 'for engaging said projection when in said slot for preventing the withdrawal thereof.
8. A tan-k closure com-prising an adapter having an opening therethrough, a rim carriedby sai d adapter and capable of limited rotary movinnent relative thereto, a cap hinged to said adapter and lugs carried by said rim and projecting into said adapter,
