Description

March 1 1932. T b. ZERVER 1,847,203
HOLDER FOR TOOLS OR IMPLEMENTS Filed June 10, 1929 INVEN TOR. 0222. Z 01rd A TTORN S.
Patented Mar. 1, 1932 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE HOLDER FOR TOOLS OR IMPLEMENTS Application filed June 10, 1929, Serial No. 369,595, and in Germany June 13, 1928.
This invention relates to a holder or frame adapted to lodge and firmly hold a plurality of tools or implements, more particularly spanners.
There is a demand for a means to lodge tools or implements which are used frequently, in a convenient manner so that they are not only quickly and individually accessible but also always held in a prescribed order.
On the contrary the existing holders of this type fulfill this condition only insufiicient-ly or not at all, as in the most cases they are of a shape as to permit withdrawal of one of the implements only difficulty, while the re- 1 maining implements have then no longer the required mutual support and therefore need be set in order anew when one of them is removed.
Holders of this type are required especial- 1y with automobiles where it is desirable not only to have firmly lodged the tools and implements to avoid undesired clattering noises, but also to have the possibility to quickly and easily withdraw one of them without interfering with the position of the remaining ones.
The subject-matter of the invention is a very simple and useful holder for tools or implements, more particularly for a set thereof, which holder on the one hand enables a very quick and easy withdrawal of each individual tool and on the other hand a reliable and firm lodgement of the tools even when one of them is withdrawn. According to the invention the new holder comprises a plurality of gaps which may be formed by a steel band, a steel wire or the like and have resilient walls between which the tools inserted are held by clamping action.
In order that my invention can be more readily understood, a preferred embodiment of the same is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the holder with a set of spanners put thereinto, and
Figure 2 is a corresponding cross section.
Referring to these drawings, 1 denotes a resilient steel band bent in zigzag several times so as to form a plurality of U-shaped resilient clips 2 that serve to hold the tools 3, such as a set of spanners, as illustrated. The spanners are lodged in the holder by slightly bending apart the resilient walls of the clips and are then firmly held in place so that they cannot shift. Each individual spanner can be easily withdrawn without the position and the mutual arrangement of the remaining spanners being interfered with. As all spanners are arranged in one row they can very easily be taken in at a glance and the spanner just to be used can be selected and removed very quickly.
As shown, the device presents a gang or series of clips having their entrances disposed alternately at opposite sides of the holder and which are of gradient size or progressively diminish in size from one terminal clip to the other terminal clip of the series, to receive a set of tools of different sizes, but the clips may be all of the same size or otherwise vary in size within the spirit of the invention and scope of the appended claim.
I claim In a new article of manufacture, a holder for a plurality of tools comprising a resilient metallic strip, arcs formed intermittently in the strip whereby a series of tool holding slots are provided having entrances alternately disposed on opposite sides of the holder.
In testimony whereof I alfix my signature.
DAVID ZERVER.
