. IMPROVEMENT IN AXLE-GREASE.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184,492, dated November 21, 187 6; application filed 1 May 20, 1876. I
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARTEN ANDERssoN, of Elkhorn Station, in Douglas county, and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and useful Compound for Axle-Grease, which is fully described in the following specification.
This invention relates to that class of compounds used to' lubricate railroad-car wheelaxles, to prevent; friction and consequent fire in boxes.
To prepare the axle-grease, take a quantity of soap, of any kind, and dissolve it in hot watersay, take four and one-half pounds of the one to one-half gallon of the other-and, when the mixture is at the boiling -point, slowly stirin onehalf pound of sulphur; then add thereto, in the same manner, three pounds of coal-dust, after which stir and let boil un- The compound of soap, sulphur, coal-dust,
