Description

N. A.-BELL:EZZA.
' FINGER RING. No.'184,3Z.O. Patented Nov. 14, 1876.
UNIT D STATES PATENT OFFICE,
NIOOLO ALESSANDRO BELLEZZA, OF ROME, ITALY, ASSIGNOR TO SIMON MUHR, OF- PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT lN FINGER-RINGS.
cification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184,320, dated November 14, 1876 application filed September 26, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NIGOLO ALESSANDRO BELLEZZA, of Rome, Italy, have invented an Improved FingenRing, of which the following is a specification The object of my'invention is to so eonstrnct a finger-ring that, while it will fit snugly to the finger, it will interfere less with the free movement of the same, and can be Worn with more comfort than an ordinary ring.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved fingerring; Fig. 2, a side view oi the same, as it appears when applied to the finger; and Fig. 3, an inverted plan view'.
The ring before it is bent is of the form shown in Fig. 4, but by bending it at the points :1: ac, Figs. 1 and 2, an appropriate shape, Fig. 3, is presented for the finger, to which it will'fit more snugly and with less danger of accidental removal than an ordinary plain ring. It can, however, be removed when necessary by the exercise of a slight efi'ort.
The most prominent advantage of my invention, however, is this, that the ring interferes less with the free movement of the finger than an ordinary ring, and this is especially the case when the ring has a jeweled or other ornament, m, as at the rearward-projecting portion 2, of comparatively large size, for this ornament will always be so far back of thesec- 0nd joint pot the finger as not to interfere with the same, but not too far back to interfere with the third joint, while the rearwardprojecting portion y of the ring will rest in the bend of the third joint on the inside of the hand, and theswelling of the flesh between the second and third joints of the finger, which occurs when the hand is doubled, is not restricted, as in the case of an ordinary ring.
It will be seen, therefore, that the ring can be worn with much more comfort than a ring of the usual form.
I claim as my invention- The within-described finger-ring, bent at the points ac a, and having the rearward-projecting portion y z, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereofI have signed my name to this specification inthe presence of two subscribing witnesses.
N ICOLO ALESSANDRO BELLEZZA.
