In the structure herein shown this trip device comprises a supporting bar shown herein asconveniently, formed of a front piece 23, a back piece 24 and spacers 25 located between and near the ends of the front and back pieces to provide a space therebetween for a purpose to be hereafter described. A bracket 26 is formed on the back of the back piece 24 within which bracket a trip shaft 27 is pivotally mounted. A trip arm 28 is secured to one end of the shaft 27 and a detent 29 is secured to the other end of the shaft. This detent 29 is located, in one position, in the path of movement of a clutch actuating lever 30 pivotally supported at one end by the frame 6. Aclutch actuating spring 31 is arranged to exert its force upon the lever 30' to move it to disconnect the clutch members and thereby stop operation of the machine. Inthe arrangement-herein shown the spring ismounted upon a guide rod 32 pivotally attached atone end'to" the frame 6 and exerting its. pressure: at theiopa posite end against a thrust-piece 33=p1votally attached to the lever 30.
