This invention relates generally to displayfixtures. More particularly, my invention relates to a certain new and useful improvement in display-fixtures of swingable wing type and has for its chief object the provision of a swingable wing display-fixture which may be economically manufactured, which comprises few parts that may be compactly packed for shipment and readily operatively assembled, in which the several wings may be conveniently manipulated for display purposes and are so hung or supported for both group and selective individual actuation, in which the swingable actuation of the several wings may adjustably be frictionally regulated and controlled, and which is exceedingly eflicient in the performance of its intended functions.
And with the above and other objectsin view, my invention resides in the novel features of form, construction, arrangement, and combination of parts hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

Figure 1 is a plan view of a display-fixture embodying my invention;
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the fixture;
Eigure 3 is an enlarged side elevational view, partly broken away and in section, of the fixture; and
Figure 4L is an enlarged plan view, also partly broken away and in section, of the fixture.
Referring now more in detail and by reference characters to the drawings, which illustrate a preferred embodiment of my invention, the fixture includes a standard preferably in the form of a tubular post A adapted to endwise rest in upstanding position upon a floor or other support, post or standard A being preferably disposed adjacent, and rigidly, as by suitable fastening devices 1, attached to, a wall or the like, substantially as shown.
Forming part of the fixture, isa series or set of wings B each preferably of rectangular-oblong contour of suitable dimensions and the body Z) of each of which may be constructed of wood or other suitable material for blackboard purposes or for the display of the particular matter.
At its outer corners, each wing-body b is preferably equipped with suitable decorative corner-pieces 2, while at its upper and lower inner corners, each wing-body b has securely fixed thereon suitable angular supporting corner-pieces G and D, respectively, the upper corner-piece C having an upwardly projecting boss or extension 3 and the lower corner-piece D having a downwardly projecting boss or extension 4.
The upper corner-boss 3 is flat on its upper face, as at 5, and formed in the boss 3 is an intermediate groove 6 opening upon said face 5 and having a preferably conical bottom 7.
The lower cornerboss 4; is likewise fiat on its under face, as at 8, and is similarly formed with agroove 9 in aligning opposing registration with the upper groove 6 of the cornerpiece C, the groove 9 opening upon said under face 8 and preferably also having a conical bottom, as at 10, all as best seen in Figure 3. p
The groove 9 divides the boss 4, as it may be said, to include a forward rib or toe-portion 11 and a rear rib or heel-portion 12, the latter, at its rear end, being preferably rabbeted and thereby shouldered, as at 13, and, similarly, all for purposes presently appearing, the groove 6 divides the upper boss 3 to include like forward and rear ribs 11 and 12, respectively.
For co-operative supporting relation with the set or group of wings B, are upper and lower brackets E and F, respectively, each of which includes a back-plate 14 and a right angularly forwardly projecting base-plate 15 preferably strengthened or reinforced by aweb 16, the brackets E and F being securely attached, as by means of suitable split-collar devices 17, to the post A in spaced relation corresponding to the height-dimension of the particular wings B.
On its upper face, the base-plate 15 of the lower bracket F, is formed with an upwardly presented annular enlargement 15a, which at its rim is rabbeted and thereby shouldered, as at 18, to partly accommodate the lower toeportions or ribs 11 of the several wings B, and
is also annularly recessed to provide a groove 19 of dimensions to snugly accommodate the lower heel-p0rtions or ribs 12 of the several wings B with their shoulders 13 resting for swingable movement of the particular Wing B on the boss or enlargement 15a at the inner rim of the groove, as shown, the portion of the enlargement 15a intermediate the shoulder 18 and the groove 19 being oppositely beveled on its upper face and forming an annular rib or ring 20 of corresponding shape and dimensions to snugly fit in the respective lower grooves 9 of the several wings B, as more fully presently appearing, and to also provide a bearing surface for swingable movement of the wing.
On its under face, the base plate 15 of the upper bracket E is also formed with a d0wnwardly presented annular enlargement 21 which in like manner includes a groove 22 and an annular portion or rib 23 oppositely beveled on its under face and partaking of the form of, and being in opposed aligning registration with, the lower ring 20, the upper groove 22 accommodating the rear ribs 12 of the several wings B and the ring 23 being similarly of corresponding shape and dimensions to snugly fit in the respective upper grooves 6 of the several wings B, also as more fully presently appearing.
Now, in order that the several wings B, when supported by the brackets E, F, and in engaging relation at their ribs 11, 12, and their respective grooves 6 and 9 with the bracket grooves 19, 22, and rings 23, 20, may proper- 1y swing selectively either individually or collectively and also, when desired, extend in parallel relation with one another and with the adjacent wall, as shown, the side walls of their respective grooves 6', 9, must correspond in are or curvature with the curvature of the interfitting rings 23, 20, and the opposite side walls of their respective heel-ribs 12 and the inner side walls of their respective toe-portions or ribs 11 must likewise correspond in arc or curvature with the curvature of the side walls of the grooves 19, 22, and of the rings 23, 20. To such end, the several corner-pieces C and D for the several wings B of the set for a particular fixture are first disposed in the same relationship that their attached wings will occupy when installed or mounted in the finished fixture, and their respective bosses 3 and 4 shaped accordingly with the walls, as stated, of their respective grooves 6, 9, toe-portions 11, and heel-portions 12 curved on an arc having approximately the radius of the respective rings 23 and 21 and grooves 19, 22, of the brackets. As so shaped and formed, the toeportions 11 and heel-portions 12 of the several wings B will vary in location and relative proportions or sizes, as best seen in Figure 4, depending upon the relative arrangement of the wings of the set or group, whereby the several wings B, when mounted in the brackets C and D, as presently appearing, may, as shown, be selectively either individually or collectively swung and may also be disposed to extend substantially in parallelism with one another and with the adjacent wall.
And to facilitate operative swingable mounting of the set of wings in the brackets E, F, the boss 21 of the upper bracket E is formed of complementing segments a and 0, the segment a being preferably integral with the bracket base-plate 15, while the segment 6 is formed with a rib 24 adapted to fit in a cross-groove 25 in said base-plate 15, where by outward pull or strain on the boss-segment Z) in swingable actuations of the several wings B is transmitted to and taken up by the bracket proper, the segment 6 being detachably held in place by means of securing devices, such as screws 26, engaging the segment 7) and the bracket base-plate 15. Hence, in mounting the set of wings B, the segment Z) is removed, the wings B at their corner-pieces D engaged with the lower bracket F, the wings B then at their corner-pieces C engaged with the relatively fixed boss-segment a, and the detachable complemental boss-segment I) again attached in ring and groove completing and wing-securing position upon the upper bracket E. The several parts of the fixture, including its set of wings B, may thus be readily packed for shipment and handling and may also with facility and convenience be operatively assembled.
And in assembling the fixture parts, the brackets E, F, are preferably so disposed with respect to the interposed wings B as to somewhat bind thereupon, whereby the swingable movement of the several wings B may adjustably be frictionally controlled or retarded and violent swinging of the several wings prevented, the brackets E, F, be ing secured together in such adjusted spaced relation by means of a suitable spacing-bar or rod 27, as best seen in Figure 3.
The fixture thus fulfills in every respect the objects stated, and it is to be understood that changes in the form, construction, ar-
rangement, and combination of the several parts of the fixture may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from the nature and principle of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. In a display-fixture, in combination, a pair of spaced supporting brackets and a set of rigid display-wings disposed at their respective inner ends intermediate and supportingly engaged by the brackets, the brackets and wings having co-operativcly interfitting opposed rings and arcuate grooves for enabling selective individual or collective swingable movement of the wings relatively to the brackets.
2. In a display-fixture, in combination, a pair of spaced supporting brackets and a set of rigid display-wings disposed at their respective inner ends intermediate the brackets, the brackets and wings having co-operatively interfitting opposed sets of annular ribs and grooves for supportingly securing the wings to the brackets for selective individual or collective swingable movement.
3. In a display-fixture, in combination, a pair of spaced upper and lower brackets, opposed rings on the brackets, said brackets also having opposed annular grooves, and a set of display-wings each including a rigid body-portion and rigid pieces on the opposite inner corners of the body-portion disposed intermediate the brackets, said cornerpieces having opposed arcuate grooves and spaced arcuate ribs for co-operable interfitting engagement with the rings and grooves of the brackets for securing the wings to the brackets for selective individual or collective swingable movement.
4. In a display-fixture, in combination, a pair of spaced upper and lower brackets, opposed rings on the brackets, said brackets also having opposed annular grooves, and a set of display-wings disposed at an end inter mediate the brackets and each of said wings having at its top and bottom arcuate grooves and spaced arcuate ribs for co-operable engagement with the rings and grooves of the brackets for securing the wings to the brackets for selective individual or collective swingable movement, the location of said grooves upon the several wings and of said ribs varying with the relative location of the several wings with respect one to the other in the set thereof.
5. In a display-fixture, in combination, a pair of spaced upper and lower brackets, opposed bosses on the brackets, each boss being formed to include a ring and an annular groove, a set of display wings, and upper and lower corner-pieces on the wings, the wings being at said corner-pieces disposed intermediate the brackets and each having a bearing at its lower corner-piece upon said lower boss for swingable movement, said upper and lower corner-pieces having arcuate grooves and spaced ribs for co-operable engagement with said rings and boss-grooves for securing the wings to the brackets for selective individual or collective swingable movement, the location of the corner-piece grooves and ribs varying with the relative location of the several wings with respect one to the other in the set thereof.
6. In .a display-fixture, in combination, a pair of spaced upper and lower brackets, opposed bosses on the brackets, a set of display wings, and upper and lower corner pieces on the wings, the wings being disposed at said corner-pieces intermediate the brackets and each having a bearing at its lower corner piece upon said lower boss for swingable movement, the wings and bosses having cooperably engageable ribs and grooves for securing the wings to the brackets for swingable movement, a portion of the upper boss being removable for facilitating engagement of said corner-pieces with the brackets.
7. In a display-fixture, in combination, a pair of spaced supporting brackets, a set of display-wings disposed at an end intermediate the brackets, the brackets and wings having cooperatively engageable arcuate ribs and grooves for securing the wings to the brackets for individual or collective swingable movement, and means for adjustably securing the brackets together in engagement with the several wings.
8. In a display-fixture, in combination, a pair of spaced supporting brackets, a set of rigid display-wings disposed at an end intermediate the brackets, the brackets and wings having co-operatively interfittingly engageable opposed sets of arcuate ribs and grooves for securing the wings to the brackets for individual or collective swingable movement, and a rod having engagement with the brackets for securing the same in spaced relation in engagement with the several wings.
