This invention relates to improvements in typewriting machines, and has for its general object to provide an eficientmechanism for actuating certain devices of a Visible writing typewriting machine from the typeactions to adapt the machine for performing all the usual functions of a printing machine of this type.
One feature of the invention is the provision of a simple and eiiicient type-bar operated mechanism for actuating the ribbon feeding, reversing, and vibrating devices of the machine. Another feature of the invention is the provision of actuating mechanism for the ribbon and escapement mechanism for actuating both the ribbon mechanism and the escapement from the ordinary keys and the ribbon-mechanism alone from the accent keys of the machine. Another feature of the invention is the provision of type-bar-actuated mechanism for operating the ribbon feeding, reversing, and vibrating devices and the escapement in printing ordinary characters and key-lever-actuated means for actuating such parts of said type-baractuated mechanism in printing accent characters, as will effect operation of the ribbon devices only.
Another feature of the invention is the provision of a ribbon vibrator actuator and a ribbon feeding device actuator and two universal bars. one operable from the ordinary keys and the other operable from the accent keys, and one transmitting motion to the vibrator actuator through the medium of the feeding device actuator while the other transmits motion to the feeding device actuator through the medium of the vibrator actuator.
Another feature of the invention is the provision of a universal bar having an escapement actuator movable positively there with, a ribbon vibrator actuator movable by and ndependently of said universal bar in idirection to effect covering of the ribbon, ribbon feed actuator operable by said vior actnaor when so moved, and operable from an accent key to actuate the vibrator actuator independently of said universal bar.

The main frame of the machine comprises a front wall 10, back wall 11, side walls 12, and also the transverse partition wall 13 which is located in the rear portion of the main frame in an upwardly and rearwardly inclined plane with its lower edge above the level of the lower edges of the other frame walls. An inclined type-bar segment 14, having an arcuate recess 15 in its rear face, is held to the front face of wall 13 with the usual arcuate pivot wire 16 therein lying in a plane parallel with said wall. An arcuate system of type bars 17 and 1'? are fulcrumed on wire 16 and guided in the segment slots to strike on the upper front quarter of platen 18. The character key levers 19 and 19 of the machine are fulcrumed at their rear ends on pivot wire 20 held to fulcrum plate 21 secured to the rear face of wall 13. The key levers extend downward behind wall 13 and then forward under said wall to the keyboard and are guided in comb member 22 held to the main frame. The connection between each key lever and its associated type bar comprises a bell-crank lever 23 fulcrumed in a sub-lever segment 24 and connected with the type bar heel and key lever by links 25 and 26, respectively. Return springs 27 for the type bar actions connect key levers 19 and 19* with a spring anchor bar 28 on the main frame, hereinafter referred to. Most of the type bars of the system, as usual, carry ordinary type characters, only one of these ordinary type bars (designated 17) and its con nected ordinary key lever (designated 19) being shown. Any suitable number of the type bars may be provided with accent or silent types. These accent type bars, two being shown. are designated 17 and their conneoted accent key levers are designated 19.
The shift frame for the platen carriage 29 comprises a rearwardly and downwardly inclined carriage bed 30 having a pair of rigi d downwardly and forwardly extending sheet metal guide members 31 fastened thereto at their upper ends adjacent o posite sides of the machine and connected by a transverse brace rod 32 adiacent their lower ends. The carriage is mounted on the bed in rearward- 1y tilted position on suitable antifriction bearings 33. as shown. to travel transversely of the machine. as usual. and supports platen 18 above and in rear of the type bar pivots. The carriage and bed overlie the space between frame walls 11 and 13, and guide members 31 extend down between said walls between cooperating guide members 34 held to the main frame side walls in upwardly and rearwardly inclined position, members 31 and 34 being provided with races in which are confined ball bearings, as shown, said members and races being; so arranged as to guide the carriage and shift frame for case-shifting movement in a plane parallel with the oblique plane of the segment, as in said applications and machine before referred to.
As in the Corona Four machine, the shift frame is actuated by either of two shift key levers 35 fulcrumed on pivot-s 36 on brackets 37 held to frame Walls 12, said levers having forked rear ends embracing studs 38 on the forward ends of the side arms 39 of a shift torsion and counter-balancing frame which comprises said arms 39 and a rock shaft 10 to which the arms are rigidly held. Shaft 40 is journalled on the frame walls 12 between wall 11 and the lower part of the shift frame,and studs 38 are engaged in rearwardly and downwardly extending slots 31 in members 31 of the shift frame, as in the applications and machine referred to above. Brackets 37 also support a type bar rest 9.
Downward movement of the shift frame is limited by engagement of stop lugs 11 on members 31 with adjustable stop screws on arms 48 of brackets 13 held to frame walls 12. Upward movement of the shift frame is limited by the engagement of adjustable stop screws 44 on members 31 with stop lugs 45 on arms of brackets 43. The frame 3910 which are secured at their upper ends to the arms 18 of brackets 43. 9
An arcuate sheet metal universal bar 19. adapted to be engaged and moved rearwardly by lugs 8 on the ordinary type bars 17 only during the latter part of the printing strokes of said ordinary type bars, is located between segment 14 and wall 13 and is supported in a plane parallel with the planes of said wall and segment to vibrate in the segment recess 15 in a path substantially perpendicular to said planes. The accent type bars 1'? are not provided with lugs 8 and are adapted to move to printing position without engaging and moving universal bar 49.
Universal bar 49 is carried at the forward ends of a pair of rearwardly and downwardly extending, two part, sheet metal side arms comprising front sections 50 and 51 and rear sections 50 and 51 Sections 50 and 51 are formed integrally with the arcuate universal bar, as shown, and extend through pairs of registering apertures in wall 13 and fulcrum plate 21 affording clearance openings 52. The front portions of sections 50 and 51 are rigidly but detachably clamped to the rear port-ions of sections 50 and 51 by pairs of screws 54. Sections 50 and 51 of the side arms are offset laterally inward at the rear ends of sections 50 and 51, and are provided with longitudinal guiding and supporting slots 53 in their offset rear portions extending perpendicular to the plane of the segment. These slots are open at their rear ends and correspond in width with the diameter of rock shaft 40 which extends theretirough and upon which the side arms thus slidably supported and guided at their rear ends to reciprocate fore-and-aft of the machine. A transverse spacer bar 55, formed integrally with section 50 forward of shaft l0, abuts the inner face ofsection 51- The side arms extend from universal bar through the shift frame and the shift torsion frame to points adjacent the lower of wall 11, and are supported and guided intermediate tiie universal bar and shaft -16 on fore-and-aft rocking arms 56 and 57, fixed at their lower ends on a short transverse rock shaft 58. Shaft 58 has trunnions 58 journalled on banning screws 59 threaded through the rear ends 0. pair of arms 21 which are formed inte -ny with fulcrum lumber 21 and extend i .arward and downward to a point forward of shift frame brace rod and close to the base line of the main frame. Arms 56 and normally extend upward and earwardly forward of shift frame rod 32 at. slightly less angle from the vertical. than he wall 13 and shift frame and have pivot noles in their upper ends in which are engaged the reduced pivot portions of com-- bined pivot and spacing studs 61 and 6%, respectively, the reduced outer supporting ends of the studs being swaged tightly in apert-ures in the arm sections 50 and 51, respectively, forward of arm sections 50 and 51,
so as to be securely fastened to arm sections 50 and 51. Stud has a reduced and headed extension 6-151 extending inward from its pivot portion for supporting and guiding and operating a ribbon vibrator actuator.
The universal bar 4-9 is normally held at the forward limit of its movement against the front wall of recess in type bar segment 14; by a return spring, hereinafter described, and its extent of throw by universal bar contacting lugs 8 on the ordinary type bars 1'? is such that the pivot studs 61 and 64 and upper ends of rock arms 56 and 5? swing between points substantially equal distances at opposite sides of a plane through the axis of rock shaft 56 perpendicular to the plane of the carriage bed and parallel with wall 13. The arrangement and movement of rock arms and 57, together with the arrangement of slots longitudinally of the side arms and perpendicular to the plane of wall 13, pro ride for supporting and guiding the universal bar 49 to vibrate fore-and-aft of the machine in a path substantially perpendicular to the plane of the segment and its type bar pivot wire.
The escapement and line-locking mechanism are constructed in the Corona Four machine, with the exceptions hereinafter pointed out. and need only be so far described as to permit a full understanding of the present invention. A sheet metal bracket 65 has its flat body part held by screws 66 against the bottom face of carriage bed and extending across an opening 85 in said bed. A steel bushing 67 extends through, and is tightly swaged in, an opening in saio body part of the bracket and is formed with a narrow cylindrical hub portion 6'? the up per end of which abuts said bracket, this hub portion being of less diameter than the lower end of the bushing to provide an annular seat 67 for a line-locking latch member, hereinafterdescribed, pivoted on said hub portion.
Bracket 65 is formed with rearwardly and downwardly extending side arms 68 and 69 carrying at their rear ends horizontal pivot screws 70 having reduced pivot ends engaged in bearing apertures in pendent pivot ears 72 and 73 formed at the ends of the fiat body part of a sheet metal dog rocker 74. A rigid holding dog 75, formed on the forward edge of rocker 7%, and a feeding dog 7 6 (pivoted on the rocker at 77 and controlled by a suitable spring and stop device), cooperate with toothed escapement wheel 78 to control the feed of the carriage. Wheel 78 in the present construction is formed with a pendent hub 78 and is fixed on the lower end a shaft '39 journalled in bushing 67 and carrying a feed pinion 80 at its upper end meshing with a rack 81. Rack 81 lies between the carriage base plate and carriage bed and is formed integrally with a portion of the two-part base-plate of the carriage. The carriage 29 is normally urged toward the left by the usual spring drum 82 which is held to the carriage bed at 83 and is connected in the usual way by a suitable cable with the carriage. Pinion 80 is adapted to pass through opening 85 in the bed 30, so that bracket 65 together with the parts mounted thereon is removable from and attachable to the bed as a unitary assemblage.
In the present construction the escapement shaft is prolonged downward to a point above the level of the universal bar side arms and is formed with a circumferential groove 86 closely adjacent its lower end, in which is engaged a horseshoe-shaped key 87 between which and the lower end of the escapement wheel hub is confined the main body part of a tappet lever 1&6 forming part of the ribbon vibrating means, which lever, as hereinafter described, is pivotally supported on the shaft 79 and the hub 78 of the escapement wheel 78.
in the present construction also the prolonged portion of the shaft below the bushing is formed with two longitudinal grooves 88 into which are firmly screwed the inner nds of two set crews 89, t-l readed through the hub of the escapement wheel, for holding the wheel to the shaft. The outer ends of screws 8a are countersunk within the periphery of the hub 78 which is free from other projections and is cylindrical.
Dog rocker pivot ear 73 is formed with a iii) forwardly extending stop arm 90 formed with an upstanding rearwardly facing hook lug 90 the upper end of which normally abuts the bottom face of bracket 65 adjacent the inner side of bracket arm 69 to arrest return movement of dog rocker '71 under the pull of the rocker return spring 91. Spring 91 is connected at its rear end with a lug 92 proj ecting laterally outward from the lower end of rocker pivot ear '72 and is connected at its forward end with a pendent lug 93 on bracket arm 68. Feeding dog 76 normally engages a tooth of the escapement wheel 78 with holding dog '75 above the plane of the wheel. The rocker is provided with an arm depending from its pivot ear 7 3 and formed with an outwardly ext-ending cont-act lug 95 its lower end. The rocker is adapted to be rocked through the medium of said arm 9% and lug 95, to disengage dog 76 and engage dog 75 with escapement wheel 78, by tappets 96 and 97 movable, respectively, with the type baractuated universal bar l9 and a space bar "I, said tappets being located forward of lug 95 with their rear lug-contacting edges parallel with the path of shift of the shift frame.
Tappet 96 is rigid with and formed on the rear end of side arm 50 of the universal bar and. in the machine shown, is normally spaced slightly forward of lug 95. Tappet 97 is formed on the rear end of a bar 98, and is normally substantially engaged by lug 95, as shown... The bar 98 is guided to move rearward and downward upon depression of the space bar, being provided adjacent its rear end with a downwardly inclined guide slot 99 in which engages a stud 100 projecting outward from rock arm 56, and being pivotally connected at 6 with a rock arm on a rock shaft 41 journalled in ears 3 on the comb 22, and having a pair of forwardly extending arms 2 to which the space bar '7 is aiiiXe-d, as in the Corona machine. A return spring 27 is provided for bar98 and space bar 7, said spring being connected with bar 98 and anchor bar 28.
The line-locking member, hereinbefore re ferred to, comprises a sheet metal latch ever 112 having a flat body part underlying bracket 65 and held flat against the bottom face of said bracket by the annular upwardly facing seat or shoulder 67 on bushing 6?, said flat body part and open-sided bearing 106 receiving the periphery of the hub section 67* of the bushing.
Latch lever 112 is formed with a notch the left hand wall of which forms a stop face normally held engaged with the head f screw 102 on the carriage bed by coil spring 108. Spring 108 in the present construction is connected at its rear end with an arm 109 of lever 112 extending toward the right to a point adjacent bracket arm 68, while the fornrd end of the spring is connected to an arm of the ribbon guide vibrating bellcranlr, hereinafter described, to yieldably hold both the latch lever 112 and said bellcrank in normal retracted position.
Arm 109 of lever 112 is formed with a stop lug 110 projecting rearward therefrom and normally located in the path of travel or the right hand margin stop of the machine, not shown. Lever 112 is formed with a latch arm 111 normally located in rear of the recess or throat of the rearwardly facing hook lug 90 on dog rocker arm 90 and adapted to swing into said recess when latch lever 112 is rocked toward the left against the pull of spring 108 through the engagement of the right hand margin stop on the carriage with lug 110 on the lever, as the carriage is fed toward the left, to positively locl: the dog rocker in normal position so that the carriage cannot be fed farther toward tl e left when the predetermined length of line has been typed.
The ribbon vibrator, or reciprocatory ribhon guide, is slidably guided on the type guide 114 to vibrate up and down in a plane parallel with the plane of the segment and the plane of case-shift movement of the platen. Type guide 11 1 is constructed, and is attached to wall 13 by screws, as in in machine and applications before referred to, having a flat main body portion lying parallel with the plane of the segment and provided with a tvpe bar guiding throat 115 at its upper end and a longitudinal slot 110 extending upward from its lower edge. Ribbon guide 113 lies behind the type guide and consists of a flat sheet metal plate provided at its upper end with suitable ribbon guiding slots and provided intermediate its ends with angular guide lugs 117 embracing the sides of the type guide, all as in the machine referred to.
In the present construction, ribbon guide 113 is formed at its lower end with a rearwardly and downwardly facing U-shaped socket portion 119. The socket portion 119 of the ribbon guide slidably works in slot 116 of the type guide to assist lugs 117 to hold the ribbon guide against lateral tilting, and is provided with lugs 120 engaging the front face of the type guide, said lugs 120, lugs 11?, and the flat main body of the rib bon guide cooperating with the inclined flat body part of the type guide to maintain the ribbon guide in the plane of the segment during vibratory movements of the ribbon guide.
A bichrome inked ribbon 121 is re ed on the ribbon spools and threaded v. irough guide slots in vibrator 113. The spools and their pawl and ratchet rotating devices are mounted on brackets 123 held to carriage bed at opposite sides of the machine, as in the Corona Four machine.
Ribbon vibrator 113 is reciprocated, and is also supported to shift bodily in unison with the platen during case shifting by a vibra-' The hellcrank consists of the transverse bar-lil'e b part 12 which is formed at its ends with the integral pendent arms 130 and 131, through which the pivots 12%; extend, and formed intermediate itsends wi h a forwardly extend ng integral arm 132 having its front end rockably engaged. in socket portion 119 of the ribbon guide. Bellcrank arm 131 is formed with an integral pendent stop lug 13a normally held baclt against the front edge of the anchor lug 93 on escapement bracket arm 68 for the front end of dog rocker return spring 91. The belleranl: is yieldably held in this normal position, with the ribbon guide lowered to retract the ribbon from in front .of the impact point on the platen, by the spring 108 hereinbefore referred to,the front end of this spring being anchored to bellcranl: arm 131 and its rear end to the arm 109 of the pivoted line-looking latch 112, before de- .cribed.
Bellcrank 12a is rocked in opposition to spring 108 by an actuating lever 135 to cause the ribbon to cover the printing point. This lever is an upstanding and fore-and-aft rockable lever which is pivoted at its lower end, is axially shiftable to either of three differ posit-ions relatively to the pendent arm of the bellcranlr, and has a rocking movement of the same amplitude about its axis in each of said pos tions. The axial setting of lever 135 determines the amplitude of throw of the bellcranlr, which is nil in one setting for *riting stencils, short in another setting for causing}; the upper (usually black) zone of the ribbon to cover the printing point, and longer in the third-setting for causing the lower (usually red) Zone of the ribbon to cover the irinting point.
Lever is provided at its upper end with a rearwardly offset stop arm 136 extending transversely of the machine in rear of the hub 2 8* of the escapement wheel 78 and is provided with a transverse wall 138, affording a broad flat contact wall for an actuating tappet, and with a pair of foreand-aft extending slotted ears 1 11 and 14-2 spaced apart transversely of the machine forward of wall 138.
The lever 155 is formed at its lower end with a pair of transversely spaced guiding and pivot ears 1 13 and 1 14 provided with circ. r bearing holes through which brace rod 32 of the shift frame passes loosely, affording a sliding and pivotal mounting for lever 135 at'its lower end on the shift frame. Lever 135 is adapted to be rocked forwardly by the two-armed tappet lever 146. Lever 1 1-6 has its main flat body portion fitted between the fiat lower end of escapement Wheel hub 78 and the escapement shaft key 87 and provided with a bearing aperture 147 through which the escapement shaft 79 extends, and also with an integral upwardly offset bearing rlng 15 .8 encircling the upper end of hub 78 and connected with the body part of lever 1&6 by a single web 149 located forward of hub 78, so that the double lever bearing does not obstructmovement of stop arm 136 on lever into and out of engagement with said hub.
Lever 1&6 has an arm 150 extending toward the left hand side of the machine and provided with an integral pendent tappet 151 normally disposed edgewise in a foreand-aftplane behind contact wall 138 of lever 135, and said lever also has an arm 152 extending toward the right hand side of the niachine through a slot 153 in a fore-and-aft reciprocable ribbon actuator 15 1 mounted in the main frame in such manner as not to partake of the case-shift movement of the shift frame.
Ribbon actuator 15% consists of a sheet metal bar disposed edgewise in a vertical plane and having the transverse slot 153 intermediate its ends, open at the top'and extendin parallel with the plane of shift of the shift frame, and also having the longitudinal open-ended slots 155 and 156 at its front and rear ends, respectively, extending parallel with the path of movement of'the universal bar and perpendicular to the path of shift of the shift frame. Actuator bar 154 is also formed with an integral pendent arm 15? adjacent its front end extending down between rod 32 and shaft 58. The slotted forward end 155 of the actuator is both slidably guided and pivotally supported by the circumferentially grooved'inner end 64 of pivot stud 6 f carried by univ'ersalbar side arm section 51, and the slotted rear end 156 of the rearwardly and downwardly extending actuator is guided and supported in a circumferential groove 158 in the rock shaft 10 forming part of the shift torsion frame. The groovesin said stud and rock shaft also serve to maintain the actuator upright and to prevent lateral shifting of the actuator.
'ihe slots and supports are so arranged that actuator 15% is movable endwise rearwardly and downwardly by the universal bar 49 through the medium of stud 6a in a path perpendicular to the path of shift of theshift frame when an ordinary character keyisdepressed. The described method of mounting actuator 15 i permitsrearward and downward endwise movement thereof independently of the universal bar 19 when an accent character key is depressed, as hereinafter described, and also aifords a simple mounting for said actuator and a simple means for actuating the same from the type-bar-actua'ted universal bar 49. Stud 64 not only serves a'sa support and gui e for actuator 154 but also a tappet for operating the actuator.
The ribbon feeding and reversing devices are also actuated from actuator 154,
" through the medium of their actuator shaft 164, when an ordinary type bar is actuated, and the capacity for independent movement of actuator 154 is utilized for actu- .ating the ribbon vibrator through the me- 10' dium of actuator shaft 164 in connection with the typing of accent characters, as hereinafter described. The ribbon vibrator actuator 154 and type-bar-actuated universal bar 49 are returned to normal position structed as in the Corona Four machine and applications referred to, and need only be briefly described.
The ribbon spools 122 rotate with ratchets 160 on the bra'ckets123 held to the carriage bed 30, said ratchets being driven by pawls 161 pivotally and laterally tiltably supportedon pivots 118 on brackets 123 and connected by links 162 with upstanding rock arms 163 fixed on the actuating rock shaft 35 164, the noses of said laterally tiltable pawls being normally urged laterally to engage the ratchets by springs 105 connecting the pawls with brackets 123. Shaft 164 is journalled on the main frame in brackets 164 held to wall 13 and lies under wall 13, and the left hand rock arm 163 is extended downward below the shaft to provide a pendent rock arm 165 connected by the return spring 159 (above referred to) with the spring anchor bar 28, mounted in the main frame of the machine, to which the type bar action return springs 27 are also connected. Arms 163 carry tappet hooks 168 at their upper ends for forcing bodily rearwardly the ribbon-abutn1ent-settable trip devices 169 to throw one laterally tiltable pawl 161 out of action and the other pawl into action by the horizontally swinging pawl-controlling cams 101 pivoted on bracket 123 and connected by a tie link 103. Devices 169 are pivoted at 104 on cams 101 for alternate rocking of their lower portions by the usual ribbon eyelets into the path of rearward movement of tappets 168 upon exhaustion of the ribbon from the respective spools. About midway its ends rock shaft 164 is provided with a pendent rock arm 170 for oscillating the shaft at the type strokes.
All the foregoing parts of the ribbon feed ing and reversing means are constructed as reduced trunnion portions 58 of rock shaft 58 and lying substantially at the level of the base line of the main frame.
Spring 159 normally rocks shaft 164 in a direction to cause link 171 to draw actuator 154 forward, and said actuator, through engagement of the rear end of slot 155 with part 64 of stud 64, normally pushes the universal bar 49 forward until return move ment of these parts is arrested by the abutment of the front edge of the arcuate universal bar 49 with the front wall of recess 15 in type bar segment 14. Since tappet lever 146 is interlocked with actuator 154 its normal position is also fixed by this arrest of the universal bar. The normal return position of bellcrank actuating lever 135 is also determined by this arrest of the universal bathrough abutmentof wall 138 of the lever against tappet 151 on tappet lever 146. 'The segment 14 thus also erves as a stop to determine the normal position of the bell-crank-actuating parts of the ribbon vibrating mechanism. The normal position of bell-crank 124 is determined by stops 134 and 93.
Lever 135 is axially slidable on rod 32 to disconnect it from the bellcrank 124 at one point, and either leave it disconnected for stencilling, or to reconnect it with the bellcrank at another point. The lever is guided by red 32. and tappet 151 during axial sliding adjustment thereof, and is held back against the tappet by a spring 17 2 wnich connects the lever with the transverse body part of dog rocker 74. Spring 172 is preferably of light tension, only strong enough to hold up the lever 135 against the tappet and to return this lever, alone, during stencil writmg.
The pendent arm 130 of vibrator actuating bellcrank 124 has rigidly attached thereto, adjacent its lower end, two laterally project ing short pins or studs 17 5 and 17 6 located different distances from the pivotal axis of the bellcrank and atdiiferent sides of arm 130. The U-shaped or yoke-like body part of lever 135 embraces the lower end of arm 130 of the bellcrank with the slotted ears 141 and 142 spaced apart sufliciently to clear the outer ends of both of the pins 175 and 1 6 when lever 135 is in its intermediate axially adjusted position. This yoke portion is of such depth fore-and-aft that wal 138 will not engage and rock arm 130 of the bellcrank during stencil operations.
Pin 175 is engaged in the slot in car 141 rangement for imparting the long and short throw bell-c1" from an actuating lever having a short hrow of constant amplitude imparted -hica, in the machine shown, is moved solely by the ordinary type bars 17 and is only moved thereby during the latter portion of the printing strokes of said type bars;

Lever arm 18? is spring tempered and normally bowed toward the right to automati cally spring into the locking notch s and extends up through the slot in flange 183 bei provided at its upper end with a finger ce 188 for rocking the lever and for flexhandle arm toward the left out of lung notches.
s hand lever is pivotally held to bracket 7 by a transverse pivot screw 189, and has an arm 190 extending rearward through comb notch 22 and then upward a short lisence behind the comb. A sheet metal bar 191 is pivotally connected at its front end by 65 transverse pivot screw 192 with the free ial end of lever arm 190, and extends rearwardly under sub-lever segment 2sand over spring anchor bar 28 to a point under partition wall 13. Anchor bar 28 is held in slots the forward ends of a pair of fore-and-aft adjustable sheet metal bars 193 clamped to arms of brackets 13 by clamping screws which pass through longitudinal slots in bars 193 and are threaded into the bracket arms for adjusting the tension of the type bar action return springs 27.
The rearmost one of the pair of screws 19% at the left hand side of the machine is shouldered between its head and the inner face of the acent bar 193, and the rear end of bar 191 is provided with an open ended longitudinal slot 195 through which said shouldered portion of the screw extends to slidably support and guide the rear end of the bar 191 which is confined between the screw head and inner face of bar 193, said slot 195 extending rearward and downward o that bar 191 (guided by said slot and the :pward and rearward extending arm 190 of he hand lever 18'?) will move obliquely subs antially perpendicular to the plane of the shift frame when the hand lever is rocked.
In rear of sub-lever segment 24, arm 191 is formed with alinger 196 to which is pivotally connected the forward end of a rigid wire link 19?, said linh extending rearward and downward under wall 13 to point adjacent the lower end of the left hand shift frame member 31 where it is pivotally connected with the outwardly extending arm 198 of a bellcrank lever 199 pivoted on said shift frame member. lChe link 1197 is so arranged that its rear end will move, when the shift frame is shifted from one case position to the other between points located equal distances below and above an oblique plane perpendicular to the plane of shift of the shift fr me and passing through the point of connection of the forward end of the link with finger 196, so that the action of the hand lever on the bell crank 199 will be the same in either case position of the shift frame and the adjustment of lever 135 will not be disturbed by case shift movements of the shift frame.
In the Corona machine previously referred to, the upper case stop screws ll are carried by the outer ends of a pair of sheet metal bars 200 each fastened by two screws 201 to the under faces of lugs 202 stamped forward out of the main transverse body portions of the shift frame members 31, said lugs lying fiatwise in a plane perpendicular to the plane of movement of the shift frame. in the present construction, a mounting for bellcrank 199 on the shift frame is afforded by substi uting a long shouldered pivot screw (indicated at 201 for the outermost one of the pair of fastening screws for the left hand stop carrying bar 200, the long bearing or shoulder portion of the screw 201 depending below bar 200 and lug 202, and bellcrank 1 9 having two superposed pivot ears 203 through which said bearing portion of screw 201 extends, the lower ear resting on the head of the screw and the upper ear engaging under bar 200.
Bellcrank 199 is provided with an arm 20%- eXtending rearward through the aperture 205 in shift frame member 31 and connected with lug 16 on the adjacent rock arm 39 of the shift torsion frame by a coil spring 206 which normally draws said arm toward the eft until arrested by engagement of a stop 207 on said arm with the front face of member 31. A rigid wire link 208 connects the rear end of the bellcrank arm with the lower end of the axially adjustable lever Stop lug 207 engages member 31 to prevent spring 206 from rocking bellcrank 199 far enough to cause the left hand side of lever 135 to bind or rub on the adjacent sectional side arm of the universal bar when the vi brating mechanism is set for the short throw of the ribbon vibrator.
WVith the above described construction, it will be obvious that the escapenient may be actuated from the space bar i ithout causing any operation of the ribbon mechanism, and that upon operation of the ordinary character keys universal bar 19 will actuate not only the es apement, but will also actuate the entire ribbon mechanism (including feeding and vibrating devices, and also the rev rsing devices whenever the latter are set for reversing action by the ribbon eyelets), with, however, provision for cutting out of action vibratory ribbon guide when it is c esired to cut stencils.
Means have been provided whereby the r bon 1 echanism will have the capacity to :tion up n actuation of the accent or silent keys in the same ways as upon actuation of ordinary keys, but without actuation of universal bar 19 or the escapement dogoroeker, i. e. the ribbon guide w ll ca the lower or upper zone of the bichrome ribbon over the printincr point on the upper front quarter of the platen, or will remain lowered (according to the adjustment of hand lGa QI 187 and lever 135), the ribbon will be fed long Wlh. and, if the ribbon is exhausted from a spool, the direction of feed will be automatically reversed, upon actuation of an accent key. The operation of the ribbon mechanism from the accent keys iseil'ected from second universal bar 209 which is not moved upon actuation of the ordinary keys and is directly operable solely by the accent key levers.
Universal bar 209 is formed of sheet metal extends transversely of the machine below sub-lever segment 21 and under the entire system of character key levers. At its ends this universal bar is formed with integral l rorwaroly extending side arms 210 and 211 pivotally supported at their forward ends to rock up and down on the inner ends of horizontal pivot screws 212 tapped through side walls 12 of the main frame. Arm 210 is formed with an integral. rearwardly extending stop finger 213 (preferably having a rubber cushioning sleeve 213* thereon) normally engaged under the left hand end of sublever segment 24- to limit return movement of universal bar 209. Finger 213 is bendable up and down for adjustment purposes. A return spring 214 for the universal bar has its lower end attached to an eye 215 punched up from arm 210 in rear of the fulcrum of said arm and its upper end hooked over the inwardly projecting end of one of the screws 216, there being a pair of these screws extending through each of the side walls of the main frame and threaded in the adjacent end of the sub-lever segment to support said segment in the frame.
Side arm 211 of universal bar 209 is formed with an i egral upstanding arm 217 in rear of its fulcrum and forward of sub-lever segment 24. Arm 217 has a rearwardly and downwardly extending closed slot 218 in its upper end, and the hook-like forward end of a rigid wire link 219 is slidably engaged in this slot, normally abutting the forward end of the slot. Link 219 extends rearward and downward under segment 2a and over universal bar 209 and has its hook-like rear end engaged in apivot hole in the lower end of a rock arm 220 pendent from the right-hand nd of the ribbon feed and reverse actuator rock haft 164; and preferably formed as an extension of the right hand upstanding rock arm 163 fixed on said shaft. Side arm 211 of the universal bar 209 is also formed with an integral upstanding stop finger 221 forward of segment 24 having a downwardly and rearwardly inclined stop edge 221 at its upper end adapted to engage the forward edge of segment 24- at 245 to limit downward movement of the universal bar. The throw of this universal b r 209 by the accent key levers is controlled by stops 213 and 221 for rocking of actuator shaft 164 by said universal bar to the same extent as said shaft is roclred from universal bar 49 through the vibrator actuator 154, link 171, and central rock arm 170 on shaft 164.
Universal bar 209 is depressible only by the silent or accent key levers 19 which have integral fingers 19" overlying said bar for this purpose, which fingers are omitted from the ordinary character key levers 19 to render these key levers ineffective on universal bar 209, while the actuating lugs 8 of the ordinary type bars 17 for operating universal bar i9 are omitted from the accent type bars 17 to render these type bars ineffective on universal bar 19. lVhile I have shown two accent type-bar actions at one side of the machine, it will be obvious that the construction is such that as many of these actions as desired may be employed and that they may be distributed throughout theentire-s-ystem of type actions, or placed at any pointstherein, as may be desired.
It 'will be evident that, when the key 'on an ordinary character :key lever 19 is depressed, its-connected'type bar 17 will swing upward and rearward ;until a type thereon strikes on the upper front quarter of the platen 1-8 and lug'8 on said type bar moves universal bar 49 rearward from its normal position (shown :in Figs. '2, 5 and 7) .to the position shown in 'Fig. 1. This movement of the universal bar 49 causes tappet 96'to rock dog rocker 74 to disengage .loose or pivoted feeding dog 76 fromand engage "fixed or holding dog with the toothed escapement wheel 78'; causes ribbon vibrator actuator 154 to move rearward through the thrustolf stud 64 against the rear end of slot 155 in the actuator into its position for placing whichever .zone-of the :ribbon over the printing point that lever 135 may be adjusted for,
or to throw lever 135 forward idly if the same be adjusted for making of stencils; causes vibrator actuator 154-to rockthe ribbon feed and reverse actuatorshaft -164in-opposition to its return spring 159; and causes link 219 to be drawn rearward by rock arm 220 without pulling down universal bar 209, the forward end of the link sliding idly rearward in slot 218 of arm 217 of this universal bar so that the load of operating'this universal bar is not imposed on the active type-bar-action. 611 the return stroke of said type bar 17, the dog rocker will be returned toits normal position by its return spring 91, effecting a. letterspace feed of the platen carriage 29; spring 159 will return ribbon feed and reverse actuator shaft 164 to its normal position, causing the active pawl 161 to rotate the ratchet 160 of the spool on which the ribbon is being wound to reel an additional portion of the ribbon on the spool, and causing the feed reversing hooks 168 to move back to normal position. If one of the eyelet-settable trip devices 169 should be set for actuation, the direction of feed would be reversed by the rearward movement-of said set device bodily with its supporting cam 101 by its associated tappet hook 168. The return-of shaft 164 by its spring also pulls forward the vibrator actuator 154 which in turn pushes the universal bar 49 forward through the medium of stud 64 until these parts arearrested in a normal position determined by the engagement of the front edge of universal bar 49 with the front wall of recess 15 in the type bar segment 14. The return of actuator 154 draws the ribbon guide 11-3 downward to normal position to expose the printed character.
hen a key on one of the accent character key levers 19 is depressed, its connected type bar 17 swingsupward and rearward until a type thereon strikesthe platen without pushing the universal bar-49 rearward and consequently without said universal :bar wtrlpping the dog rocker. The universal bar 49 will either remain :in :normal position owing :to
friction and inertia of the parts, or in any event be arrested by the spring-held dog rocker after a very slight rearward movement of the universal .bar into contact with the lug 95 on pendent v:arm 694 of the dog rocker. Finger .19 on the key :lever avill,
however, depress :univcrsal ,bar 209 to the position shownv in Fig.2,icausing ar1n217'to push link 219 and=therrook'arnr220 on :ribbon .feed and :reverseactuator shaft l64zrearward and the ribbon feed and reversing devices to assume the same position as in "the icase :ofrthe rearward movement of universalbar 49 by an ordinary type bar 17. At the same time,
the ribbon vibrator actuator 154 is moved rearward by the ribbon feed and reverse actuator 164 by reason ofithe link connection '171 between arm 170 on shaft 164 and arm 15.7 01 12116 vibrator actuator 154, to the same position in which it is movable by universal bar 49, but without moving universal bar 49 rearward, owing to the pin and slot connec tion 64 and .155 :between the universal bar 49 and actuator 154. This movement of actu- :ator 154 Wl'll carry up the ribbon guide to position the desired zone .of the ribbon between :the accent type on the actuated type bar 17 and the printing point on the platen, 'or leave the guide in normal position, according .to the adjustment of ilever 135. On the return stroke of the type bar 17 and its key lever 19 the ribbon feedandareverse actuator and vibrator actuator will be restored as in the case of actuation of an ordinary key lever, by spring 159, and will be eifective'to cause the same operations ofthe ribbon devices including :the feeding, reversing and vibrating devices, and the universal bar 209 will also be restored to normal position by its return spring 214.
What I claim is: 1. Inatypewriting machine, a main frame, key-operated :type bars'on the main frame, a
platen, .a universal lbar operable by thety-pe bars, a .universalEbar support rockab'ly mounted on the main frame, a pivot member connecting saiduniversal bar and support, and

In a visible typewriting machine, the combination of key-operated type-bars, a platen, ribbon feeding means, a ribbon vibrating means, an actuator to which said ribbon feeding means and said ribbon vibrating means are connected, a type-bar-actuated universal bar, a common support with which said actuator and universal bar are each slidably engaged for movement fore-and-aft of the machine, a fore-and-aft rocking support, and a pivot member connecting said universal bar and actuator with said rocking support and forming a motion-transmitting connection between the universal bar and actuator.
5. In a visible typewriting machine, the combination of key-operated type bars, a platen, a platen carriage, a carriage escapement, a ribbon guide, ribbon guide vibrating means, an arcuate type-bar-actuated universa-l bar having a pair of rearwardly extending side arms,a tappet carried by one of said side arms cooperative with the ribbon guide vibrating means for actuating the same at the type bar strokes, and a tappet carried by the other side arm cooperative with the carriage escapement for actuating the same at the type-bar-strokes.
6. In a visible typewriting machine, the combination of key-operated type bars, a platen, a platen carriage, a carriage escapement, an arcuate type-bar-actuated universal bar having a pair of rearwar'dly extending side arms provided with longitudinal slots adjacent their rear ends, a supporting and guiding member extending through said slots transversely of the machine, a pair of foreand-aft swinging supporting arms for the universal bar forward of said transverse member pivotally connected with said side arms of the universal bar, anactuator having a longitudinal supporting and guiding slot adjacent its rear end through which said transverse member extends and also supported and operable by the pivotal connection between one of said side arms and supporting arms, a tappet carried by the other side arm of the universal bar for operating the carriage escapement, and ribbon vibrating means operable by said actuator.
7. In a visible typewritingmachine, the combination of key-operated type bars, a
platen, a platen carriage, a carriage escapement, an .arcuate type-bar-actuated universal bar having a pair of rearwardly extending side arms provided with longitudinal slots adjacent their rear ends, a supporting and guiding member extending through said slots transversely of the machine, a pair of fore-and-aft swinging supporting arms for the universal bar forward of said transverse member pivotally connected with said side arms of the unlversal bar, an actuator having a longitudinal supporting and guiding slot adjacent its rear end through which said transverse member extends and also supported and operable by the pivotal connection between one of said side arms and supporting arms, a tappet carried by the other side arm of the universal bar for operating the carriage escapment, ribbon feeding mechanism operable by said actuator and including means for automatically reversing the direction of feed of the ribbon, and a ribbon vibrator operable by said actuator.
8. In a visible typewriting machine having a ribbon vibrator, a platen carriage escapement and ribbon feeding means, the combination of a pair of actuators, means con necting said actuators for operation of either actuator through the medium of the other, operating connections between the vibrator and ribbon feeding means and different ones of said pair of actuators, ordinary and ac cent type actions, a universal bar operable solely from the ordinary type actions operatively connected with the carriage escapement and also operatively connected with one of said actuators for actuating the same and actuating the remaining actuator through the medium thereof, and a second universal bar operable solely from the accent type actions and connected only with said remaining actuator.
9. In a typewriting machine, a platen cartriage, a platen therein, accent and ordinary type actions, a carriage escapement, a ribbon vibrator, a vibrator actuator, ribbon feeding mechanism, a ribbon feeding mechanism actuator, a connection between said actuators for operating either actuator when the other actuator is operated, a universal bar 01%12Lbl6 solely by the ordinary type actions and operative on the carriage escapement and the ribbon vibrator actuator, and a second universal bar operable solely by the accent type actions operative on the'ribbon feeding mechanism actuator and inoperative on the escapement.
10. In a typewriting machine, a platen carriage, a platen thereon, accent and ordinary type actions, a carriage escapement, a ribbon vibrator, a vibrator actuator, ribbon feeding mechanism, a ribbon feeding mechanism actuator, a connection between said actuators for operating either actuator when the other actuator is operated, a universal bar for the carriage escapement operable solely by the ordinary type actions, a connection between said universal bar and said ribbon vibrator nism actuator and is also operable by the lat ter actuator to actuate the vibrator without moving the universal bar, a second universal bar operable solely by the accent type actions, and a connection between said second universal bar and the ribbon feed mechanism actuator for operating said actuator to actuate the ribbon feeding mechanism and the ribbon vibrator actuator from said ribbon feed mechanism actuator, said last mentioned connection being ineffective to actuate the sec ond universal bar when the first-mentioned universal bar is actuated.
11. In a typewriting machine, a platen carriage, a platen thereon, accent and ordinary type actions, a carriage escapement, a ribbon vibrator, a vibrator actuator, ribbon feeding mechanism, a ribbon feeding mechanism actuator, a connection between said actuator for operating either actuator when the other actuator is operated, a universal bar directly operable solely by the ordinary type actions provided with tappets for actuating the escapement and the vibrator actuator and connected with the ribbon feeding mechanism actuator only through the medium of the vibrator actuator, and a second universal bar directly operable solely by the accent type actions ineffective on the first-mentioned universal bar and the carriage escapeinent and operative on the ribbon feed mechanism actuator to actuate the ribbon feed mechanism and connected with the ribbon vibrator actuator only through the medium of said ribbon feed mechanism actuator.

In a visible typewriting machine, the combination of a platen carriage, a platen on the carriage, key-lever operated ordinary and accent type bars, a carriage escapement, ribbon vibrating means, ribbon feeding means, a typebar-actuated universal bar for actuating the escapement opera le solely by the ordinary type bars, a key-lever-actuated universal bar operable solely by the key levers connected with the accent type bars, an actuator connected directly with the ribbon feeding means, an actuator connected directly with the ribbon vibrating means, a connection between said two actuators whereby each actuator is operable from the other, and independent operating connections between the type-bar-actuated universal bar and the ribbon vibrating means actuator on the one hand and the key-lever-actuated universal bar and the ribbon feeding means actuator on the other hand.
13. In a visible typewriting machine, the combination of a platen carriage, a platen on the carriage, a carriage escapement, a ribbon vibrator, key-lever-operated ordinary and accent type bars, a type-bar-actuated universal bar for actuating the carriage escapement operable solely by the ordinary type bars, a rocking support for said universal bar, a pivot member connecting the universal bar and support, a ribbon vibrator actuator, means slidably guiding said actuator to move endwise, said actuator having a longitudinal slot through which said pivot member extends for moving said actuator to impart a printing-point covering stroke to the vibrator on the impression strokes of the ordinary type bars and also permitting such moving of the actuator independently of the universal bar 011 the impression strokes of the accent type bars, and means operable solely from the key levers connected with the accent type bars for moving said actuator relatively to the universal bar to impart a printing-point covering stroke to the vibrator on the impression strokes of the accent type bars.
14:. In a visible typewriting machine, the combination of a platen carriage, a platen on the carriage, a carriage escapement, a ribbon vibrator, key-lever operated rearwardly striking ordinary and accent type bars, a typebar-actuated universal bar movable fore-andaft of the machine and operable solely by the ordinary type bars, a ribbon vibrator actuator movable fore-and-aft of the machine either with or independently of the universal bar, a transverse member supported at a fixed point in the machine frame on which said universal bar and actuator are slidably supported for fore and aft movement, a fore-and-aft rocking support mounted in the machine frame a different distance from the rear of the machine than said transverse member, a transverse member forming a positive pivotal connection between said rocking support and universal bar, said actuator having a foreand-aft extending slot through'which said pivot member extends to support and guide the actuator and in the rear end of which slot said pivot member is normally engaged to move the actuator rearwardly with the universal bar on the printing strokes of the ordinary type bars to effect a printing point covering movement of the vibrator, and means connected with said actuator independently of the universal bar and operable on the printing strokes of the accent type bars for moving the actuator rearward relatively to the universal bar to effect a printing point covering movement of the vibrator.
15. In a visible typewriting machine, the combination of a platen carriage, a platen on the carriage, a carriage escapement, a ribbon vibrator, key-lever operated rearwardly striking ordinary and accent type bars, a type-banactuated universal bar movable fore and aft of the machine and operable solely by the ordinary type bars, a ribbon vibrator actuator movable fore-and-aft of the machine either with or independently of the universal bar, a transverse member supported at a fixed point in the machine frame on which said unit'ersal bar and actuator are slidably supported for fore-and-aft movement, a foreand-aft rocking support mounted in the machine frame a different distance from the rear of the machine than said transverse member, a transverse member forming a positive pivotal connection between said rocking support and universal bar, said actuator having a fore-and-aft vextending slot through which said pivot member extends to support and guide'the actuator and in the rear end of which slot said pivot member is normally engaged to move the actuator rearwardly with the universal bar on. the printing strokes of the ordinary type bars to efiecta printing point covering movement of the vibrator, a key-lever-actuated universal bar operable solely by the key levers connected with the accent type bars, and a connection between said key-lever actuated universal bar and said actuator for moving the actuator rearwardly without actuating the type-bar-actuated universal bar on the printing strokes of the accent type bars.
16. In a visible typewritting machine, a main frame, key-operated rearwardly striking type bars on the main frame, platen carriage, a platen on the carriage, means for case-shifting the platen carriage including a rock shaft extending transversely of and journalled in the main frame, a carriage escapement, a type-bar-actuated universal bar for the carriage escapement slidably guided on said rock shaft for fore-and-aft move ment, a fore-and-aft rocking supporting member for said universal bar mounted on the main frame, a pivotal connection between said member and universal bar forward of said rock shaft, an actuator supported on and movable rearward by said pivotal connection and having a fore-and-aft extending slot through which said rock shaft extends to slidably support the actuator, and ribbon feeding and vibrating devices operable by said actuator.
17. In a visible typewritting machine, a main frame, key-operated rearwardly striking type bars on the main frame, a platen carriage, a platen on the carriage, means for case-shifting the platen carriage including a rock shaft extending transversely of and journalled in the main frame, a carriage escapement, a type-bar-actuated universal bar for the carriage escapement slidably guided on said rock shaft for fore-and-aft movement, a fore-and-aft rocking supporting member for said universal bar mounted on the main frame, a pivotal connection between said member'and universal bar forward of said rock shaft, an actuator supported on and movable rearward by said pivotal connection and having a fore-and-aft extending slot through which said rock shaft extends to slidably support the actuator, ribbon vibrating means shiftable with the platen carriage during case-changing operations and operable by said actuator, and ribbon feed mechanism connected with said actuator independently of said ribbon vibrating means and operable by said actuator.
18. In a visible typewriting machine, a main frame, key-operated rearwardly striking type bars on the main frame, a platen car riage, a platen on the carriage, means for case-shifting the platen carriage including a rock shaft extending transversely of and ournailed in the main frame, a carriage escapement, a. type-bar-actuated universal bar for the carriage escapeinent slidably guided on said rock shaft for fore-and-aft movement, a fore-a-nd-aft rocking supporting member for said universal bar mounted on the main frame, a pivotal connection between said member and universal bar forward of said rock shaft, an actuator supported on and movable rearward by said pivotal connection and having a fore-and-aft extending slot through which said rock shaft extends to slidably support the actuator, ribbon vibratin means shiftable with the platen carriage and operable by said actuator, ribbon feeding means shiftable with the platen carriage, an actuator for said feeding means mounted on the main frame, and a connection between said two actuators, for operating the last mentioned actuator from the universal bar.
19. In a visible typewriting machine, a main frame, key-operated rearwardly strikng type bars on the main frame, a platen carriage, a platen on the carriage, means for case-shifting the platen carriage including a rock shaft extending transversely of and journalled in the main frame, a carriage escapcment, a type-bar-actuated universal bar for the carriage escapement slidably guided on said rock shaft for fore-and-aft movement, at fore-andaft rocking supporting member for said universal bar mounted on the main frame, a pivotal connection between said member and universal bar forward of saidrocl: shaft, an actuator supported on and movable rearward by said pivotal connection and having a fore-and-aft extending slot through which said rock shaft extends to slidably support the actuator, ribbon vibrating means shiftable with the platen carriage and connected with said actuator, ribbon spcols and rotating devices therefor shiftable l the platen carriage,ribbon-settable feedcversing means shiftable with the platen carriage for throwing one of suit spool rotating devices at a time out of action, an actuator for said spool rotating devices and said feed-reversing means mounted on the main frame, and a connection between said actu ators for operating the last-mentioned actuator from said universal bar.
20. In a visible typewriting machine, the combination of a main frame, key lever operated rearwardly striking ordinary and accent type bars mounted on the main frame, a platen carriage, a platen on the carriage, means for case shifting the platen carriage, carriage escapement and ribbon vibrating devices shiftable with the carriage, a universal bar operable solely by the ordinary type bars, a tappet on said universal bar adapted to actuate the escapement device in the different case positions of the platen, an actuator adapted to operate the ribbon vibrating device in the different case positions of the carriage and movable without moving the universal bar, a fore-and-aft vibrating supporting means for the universal bar and said actuator mounted on the main frame, said actuator having a fore-and-aft extending slot in the rear end of which said vibrating supporting means is normally engaged for moving the actuator rearwardlywith said universalbaron the printing strokes of the ordinary type bars, means on the main frame cooperative with both said universal bar and said actuator for supporting the same for fore-andaft movement at another point fore-and-aft of the machine, and means on the main frame connected with said actuator independently of the universal bar and operable on the printing strokes of the accent type bars to move the actuator rearward to actuate the ribbon vibrating device.
21. In a visible typewriting machine hav ing a ribbon vibrator and a platen carriage escapement and ribbon feeding means, the combination of a ribbon vibrator actuator, a connection between said vibrator actuator and vibrator manually settable to vary the throw of the vibrator and to render the actuator ineffective to actuate the vibrator, a ribbon feeding means actuator connected with said feeding means independently of the vibrator actuator and the connection between the latter actuator and the vibrator, a connection between said actuators for operating either actuator through the medium of the other actuator, ordinary and accent type actions, a universal bar operable solely from the ordinary type actions operatively connected with the carriage escapement and also connected with the vibrator actuator for ac tuating the same and actuating the ribbon feeding means actuator through the medium thereof, and a second universal bar operable solely from the accent type actions and con nected with the ribbon feeding means actuator for actuating the same and actuating the vibrator actuator through the medium thereof.
