Patented a. 13, 1931 """umm STATES JOHN I. EYNCK, OF GUATEMALA CITY, GUATEMALA CALENDAR ATTACHMENT Application filed September 19, 19 3 0. 8 Serial I I'o. 483,103.
This invention relates to an attachment horizontal member 10 is slidably connected for a calendar, the general object of the invention being to provide means whereby one can readily observe the current day on a calendar by simply glancing at the calendar.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings, wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a front view of with a calendar thereon.
Figure 2 is a view with the calendar removed.
Figure 3 is a section on the line 33 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a perspective View of the horizontal member.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of the frame.
Figure 6 is a perspective view of the rod on which the frame is slidably mounted.
Figure 7 is a perspective view of the vertical member.
Figure 8 is a section on the line 8-8 of Figure 5. 1
In these views the numeral 1 indicates a backing member which has its top edge turned over as shown at 2 so that the upper edge 0f a calendar pad 3 can be placed thereunder and fastened in position by the rivets 4 or the invention the like which pass through the turned over art, the pad and the top part of the memer 1. A vertical member 5 has a tongue 6 at its upper end which is passed through a slot 7 in the bight of the turned over part with portions of the bight resting against the top part of the member 5 so that said member 5 forms a support for the backing member when the tongue is placed on a wall fastener which is passed through the opening 8 in the top. One of the fasteners 4 may pass through the upper end member 5 as shown in Figure 2 and its lower end is also fastened in the backing as shown at 9. A
withthe member 5 by the tongues 11 punched from the member and bent over the edges of the member 5. Said member 5 is formed with 'a vertical row of spaced slots 12 any one of which is adapted to receive the bent part in a tongue 13 punched from the central part of the member 10. The slots 12 are so arranged that the movement of the member 10 from one slot to another will be equal to the distance between two horizontal rows of the numbers on the calendar.
As will be seen the members 5 and 10 are located under the calendar ad and a bar 14 passes over the front face of the pad and has its ends bent as shown at15 to engage the spring tongues 16 punched from the ends of the member 10. Thus the bar is pivotally connected with the horizontal member 10 and by bending the ends of the barto provide the parts 15' transverse movement of the bar is prevented. A rectangular frame 17 has its upper edge bent over as at 18 to form a space to receive thebar 14 so that the frame is suspended from the bar and can be swung on thebar. Tongues 19 are punched in the upper part of the frame and are bent over' the bar to frictionally hold the frame in adjusted position on the bar. A bent tongue 20 is also punched in the top of the frame, this tongue being substantially V-shaped in cross section so that its apex will engage in any of a plurality of notches 21 formed in the bar 14 to properly position the frame on the bar with respect to the numbers indicating the days of the week. A cable or cord 22 is fastened to the loWer edge of the central portion of the member 10 and extends downwardly through an opening 23 in the lower end of the vertical member 5 so that when this cord is pulled upon the member 10 with the bar 14 thereon will be lowered to cause its tongue 13 to engage the next slot 12 below the one previously engaged. A cord 24 is connected with the top of the member 10 and extends upwardly to a hole 25 in the backing member 1 throu h which the cord is passed, and thence t e cord ispassed througha second hole 26 in the backing member above the first hole and then the cord is passed through a sis hole 27 in the top part of the member from where the cordextends downwardly below the device; '7
Thus byfpulling upon the cord 24 the memher 14 is moved upwardly. The metal punched from the hole 27 is rolled as at 28 to preventiinjuryito the cord. Fromithei foregoingdt will be. seenithat the horizontal member can be adjusted upwardly 7 or downwardly by the cords so as to placethe the adjustment of the frameover the desired figure on the calendar sheet, and flexible mem- V bers connected with the horizontal member for raising and lowering the said member.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature. 70
