The invention relates to means for fastening corsets, brassieres, and the like, and particularly to fastening means employing interengaging hook members and a slider for engaging and disengaging said hook members, and has for its principal object the provision of an improved construction of body garment by which the garment is entirely fastened by means of the fastener stated, the opening for the fastener extending into a strap secured to an edge of the garment, such for instance as a shoulder strap, or a suspending strap, so that the garment maybe applied to the body by slipping it over the head or stepping into it preliminary to fastening it on the body.
The invention will be described in deta1l hereinafter and will be found illustrated in the accompanyin drawings in which Figure 1 is a ront, view in elevation of a corset having shoulder stra s and showing the fastening means extend 'into one of the shoulder straps,-

In Figure 2 is shown a ty e of corset 11 without shoulder stra s, suc as shown in Figure 1, in which a ependin strap 12 is provided on the lower edge oft e corset and the interenga ing hooks 13 that are actuated by the sl1der14 in the manner hereinbefore stated in regard to the hooks 3 and slider 4 are secured on opposite edges of an opening 15 that is extended as shown at 16 into the strap .12, the edges 17 of the strap on the opposite sides of the opening 16 permitting a sufiicient spread of the garment to permit it being put on or taken oil. 18 indicates a strap secured at 19 at one side of the of the opening 25 in the body of the brassiere and an extension of said opening shown at 26 in strap 22. The edges of the strap 22 at op osite sides of theopening 26 permit a su cient spread of the garment to enable puttin the garment on and takin it'ofi, as herein efore stated in. regard to igures-l and 2. 28 is a strap secured as shown at 29 to the garment and 30 a: detachable fastener for securing the free end of the strap to the garment as hereinbefore described in regard to the straps 8 and 18.
What is claimed is:-- I
A corset comprising a body portion, shoulder straps secured to the, upper edge of said body portion, said body. portion being open on a line with one of said shoulder straps and the o ening extending into the straprto provide or spreading the garment when unfastened to permit placing the garment on the person over the head or by stepping into it, interlocking members secured to the garment and. strap at the 0p 0- site edges of said opening, said members eing arranged in staggered relation, cam means slidably mounted on said interlocking members for actuating them into and out of locking engagement, a strap secured at one of its ends to the body portion adjacent to its lower edge, detachable fastening members secured to the body portion and the free end of the strap to secure the strap over the cam means when in position with the interlocking members engaged.
