STAND OR SUPPORT Filed May 31, 1929 Patented Oct. 6, 1931 FRITZ KbHLER, F LEIPZIG, GERMANY STAND on SUPPORT Application filed May 31, 1929, SerialNo. 367,535, and in- Germany April 11, 1929.
I This inventionrelates to stands orsupports I such as are mainly'used in chemical or physical laboratories to hold test glasses, tubes and other vessels or implements. The main object of the invention is the provision of an improved, simplified form of such stands or. supports, which will permit of a more coni V venient way ofhandling and which will be the device in its eifective clamping position porting column without the necessity of first on the column and for securely gripping the article to be supported between the claws or prongs of the clamp. Said means also permitting; to move the clamp along the suplooseni-ng any thumb screws or other fixing means. j
My lnventlon briefly consists 1n the provision upon'a stand or support of the said kind of a spring clip, preferably in the shape of an open, resilient 'ring orcollar for maintaining the clamp in position on the upright column and for simultaneously clenching the article to be carried between the prongs of the said clamp. v 7
Other objects and improvements may be gathered from the following description of theac'companying sheet of drawings, which illustrates the invention by way of ex mple andin which Fig. l is a side elevation and c Fig. 2' a plan view of my improved stand or support; 7 I
, In these figures. at is a foot or base plate which may be of any known or convenient shape, and from which rises an upright, preferably cylindrical column b, embraced by the.
spaced partly circular resilient gripping members 9 which continue into the clamping jaws or prongs a3 d J adaptedto clench the article to be sup 'orted between them. A springclip 7, which may becomposedof one or more superposedspring leaves is adapted 7 to firmly grip the said jaws or prongs ofthe "column b and their free ends toward each ing a standard, coacting article holding memother so as to securely grip the article is between them.
It is, of course, to be understood, that any desired alterations in the stand or'the clamping means, or of the clip, to suit convenience or requirements may be made without departing from the invention as defined in and by the following claims.
What I claim is 1.' A support for testing'g'lasses comprising a standard, coacting clamping members having oppositely curved ends to embrace and grip the standard, their ends being in spaced relation to each other, the said clamping members having at their opposite ends clamping jaws for'partially embracing and clamping an article to be supported between them, and a curved spring embracing the standard and having its edges bearing against the aforesaid members between those portions engaging the standard and the portions holding the article, whereby the portions holding thearticle may be separated without disturbing the connection with the standard or the portions engaging the standard may be separated to adjust them on the standard without disturbing the portions holding the article.
2. A support for testing glasses comprisbers, each having a curved portion at the inner end adapted to partially embrace a standard and adapted to be adjustably supported by the standard, the ends opposite the aforesaid curved ends being shaped to partially embrace and hold an article between them, a spring exerting pressure on the two members toyieldingly force them toward each other into frictional engagement'with the standard and into frictional engagement with the article, the two ends of the devices bgilng separately and independently adjusta e.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
FRITZ K'oI-ILER.
