Another object of the invention is to provide a cabinet form of warm air register deflector capable of being readily connected interchangeably with different wall registers located at relatively different heights from the floor of the room in which the registers are disposed.

Referring to the drawings, 1 indicates a rectangular form of cabinet constructed of sheet metal, having an outlet opening 2 through the upper end of the front or face wall of the cabinet coveied by a grating 3. The cabinet is open at its base and slightly elevated above the floor by legs 4 to admit air into the cabinet from below, and to circulate upwardly through the cabinet mixing with the heated air also directed upwardly 930. through the cabinet'from'the hot air conductor with which the cabinet connects. The lower portion of the cabinet is 'divided by a vertically inclined partition wall "5 connecting or engaging at'itslower end with the rear wall of the cabinet. The partition 5 provides a cold air passageG with an intake end of the full area of the cabinet, and ahot air passage with an intake through an opening in the rear'wall of the cabinet,-andboth communicating at a point above the hot air intake or to apoint approximately midway ofthe height of the cabinet. The provision of 'separatehot air and cold air intake passagesprevents the incoming hot air from dampening the cold air. V i The heated air heats the partition wall, heating the cold air within the cold air passage which isset incirculation upwardly mixing with the hot air. The-room, therefore, can be more readily and efficiently heated as the cold air which is present. at the lower portion or fiber of the room is drawn from the room into the cabinet and heated and its velocity increased under the influence of thermore rapidlynioving heated air passing upwardly through the cabinet from the conductor of the furnace.
The rear wall 8 of the cabinet has an opening 9 therethrough for connecting the hot air passage 7 of the cabinet with the warm air conductor 10 leading from the warm air furnace or pipe of a warm air heating system of the building. The conductor 10 is provided with the commercial register 11 flanging against the wall surface of the room. A plate 12 is slidably mounted against the rear wall of the cabinet within guide channels and is provided with an olfset portion 13 extending through the opening in the rear cabinet wall adapting the plate to be engaged beneath the face of the frame plate of the register, latching or looking the cabinet to the register and appropriately spacing the cabinet from the wall, the spacing corresponding to the thickness of baseboard 14.
The provision of the slide plate accomm0 dates for making register connections disposed or located at varying distances from the floor, and also prevents the escape of dust or dirt upwardly in the rear of the cabinet either as may be conveyed with the 5 hot air or circulated upwardly from the room floor, protecting against soiling the wall of the "room about the cabinet or register. v
The cabinet at its upper end is provided with curved deflector for directing the air forwardly toward the outlet opening and with a humidifier or water pan 1 6 removably seated within-theuppenendof the cabinet enclosed by a cover 17 removably 15 engaged over the top of the cabinet. Suitable' openings 18 are provided in the. .front or side walls of the cabinet above the water pan for theescape of moisture-from the' pan into the room.
3 The deflector iniits cabinetforin aside from its utilitarian-features, lends itself to be manufactured with artistic lines :as an article of furniture to'add to-theiurnishings of the room in which it is placed.
