Description

Sept. 29, 1931. E. LANGE FLAG- TRUCK Filed July 29, 1950 m M (w 1% km PM aw Patented Sept. 29, '1931 ERIK LANGE, or STARNIBERG, ennmnnmnssriioaro a 00., GESEIL- sauna MIT BESCHBANKTER HAFTUNG, or STARNBERG, GERMANY FLAGI'IRUCKJ" e Application filed J'uly 2 9, 1930, Serial No. 471,568, and. in Germany June 30, 1930.
sisting of ceramic material (porcelain) and containing inside its headpiece channels through which the flag-line is pulled and,
inside its neck or staff hollows'to admit fitting-screws. The truck is glazed and gilt at least on the part of the surface exposed to the weather. Thechannel for the flagline may be laid in its entire length inside 3 the truck, so that it disembogues to the outside only with its two shanks at the underside of the truck or neck-piece. A hollow for fitting a lightning-conductor may be pro.
vided in the crown of the head-piece.
The attached drawings show some methods of construction of the object of the invention, viz.
Figure 1, a method of construction in axial section.
Figure 2, an oblique section to Fig. 1.
Figure 3, a second method of construction in axial section on line AB to Fig. 4:.
Figure 4, a horizontal section to Fig. 3.
Figure 5, a side view to Fig. 3.
Figure 6, a third method of construction in axial section. r I
Figure 7, a section on line C-D to Fig. 8.
Figure 8, a fourth method of'construction in horizontal section.
As per Figs. 1 and 2 the flag-truck according to this invention consists of a headpiece a and a hollow adjoined piece 6 of the neck; both parts are made in one piece, that is of ceramic materiallike porcelain, earthenware or the like. The part of the truck exposed to the weather is glazed. and gilt,
To lessen its weight, thehead-piece a is supplied with a ring-shaped cavity 0; it further has two parallel axial channels d and c (Fig, 2) through which the flag-line is pulled. The adjoined piece d of the neck has radial hollows g to admit the screws 2', joining truck and flag-pole h. The hollows g are,
covered bythe head-piece a, so that no moisture can enter.
The method of construction of the Figures 3-.5 difl'ers from the one just described inasmuch as two pairs of parallel axial chan- I nelslc and k and Z and Z are provided for pulling two flag-lines through, as well as a hollow m in the crown to insert a lightningconductor. Further the neck is stronger and longer and supplied with two bored holes 9 sitting transverse opposite each other for fitting-screws. According to Fig. ,6 the channel a r'or pulling the flag-line through runs in its full length inside the flag-truck, viz. partly inside the head a, partly in the adjoined piece I) of the neck, so that the two shanks n and n of the hollow disembogue to the outside solely at the under-side. The advantage of this arrangement as compared with that of Fig. 2 consists inthe fact that with the latter moisture may enter the channels d and e which disembogue to the outside also on the upper-side, a disadvantage avoided according to Fig. 6. The hollow of the neck is conical in this instance instead of being cylindrical. p A similar method of construction is shown by Figs. 7 and 8, but with the deviation, that in this instance the channel o' for the flag line is entirely inside the head-piece a, so that the adj oined piece I) of the neck may be made thinner.
The advantage of the flag-truck according to this invention as compared with known methods of construction of this kind 1. A hemispherical hollow head piece of 7 ceramic material for a flag stafi having orifices to accommodate the flag rope, and adepending collar the lower end of which extends below the plane of the center of the are described by the hemispherical surface of the head. c
2. A hollow head piece as claimed in claim 1.,inc1uding a guide groove in the surface of g the head projecting from one orifice to the other.
3. A hollow head -piece as claimed in claim 1, including a set: screw adjustable in the collar. torattach the head piece to the.staff. In'testimony whereoflhereunto afiix my signature. 7 V
Y ERIK LANGE.
