My invention relates to improvements in devices for attaching saving means to sunken submarines, the main object being to provide a device which is in permanent connection with the deck of a submarine and to which saving means of different kind may be attached in the case of the submarine being sunk, the said means being intended for allowing the crew of the sunken boat to communicate with a ship sent out for help.
My invention will be more fully understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which:

Fig. 3 is a horizontal cross-section upon the line 3-3 of Figure 1, and
Fig. 4 shows a detail view, in a section and in a plan View respectively.
Describing a convenient form of the inven tion such as I wish it to be applied to the deck of a submarine, the device comprises a main piece (1, preferably made of steel and made in the shape of a cylinder, the outer face thereof carrying a screw-thread b intended for being 1?;30 screwed into a screw-threaded opening provided in the boats deck 0, the said opening be ing positioned so as to establish a communication with the room for the crew. Thus, the crew is enabled to communicate with the saving ship. Now, the diver has screwed in position upon the screwthreaded ends 2', is of the tubes f and 9 respectively, a flexible tube for introducing fresh air into the submarine, and a flexible tube for having the bad air expelled therefrom, the valves of the said tubes having been opened by the crew and a flexible tube having been likewise screwed in position upon the screw-threaded inner extremities Z and m of each tube 7 and g respectively. The crew is thus prevented from perishing by the action of stale air.
While the elements shown. and described are well adapted to serve the purposes for which they are intended, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the precise construction set forth, but includes within its purview such changes as may he made within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invention, what I claim is:
1. A device for attaching saving means to sunken submarines of the character described, comprising in combination, a cylinder made of steel, having an external screwthread adapted to be screwed in position into an internal screw-threaded passage made in the deck of the submarine to communicate with the crews room; and having an internal screw-thread for engagement with the external screw-thread of a cylindrically shaped member positioned inside the said: cylinder, a series of tubes mounted in the cylindrically shaped member, the said tubes being intended for the reception of saving means, and covers for removably closing top and bottom of the said cylinder,
2. A device for attaching saving means to sunken submarines of the character described, comprising in combination, a cylinder made of steel, having an external screw-thread adapted to be screwed in position into an internal screw-threaded passage made in the deck of the submarine to communicate with the crews room; and having an internal screw-thread for engagement with the external screw-thread of a cylindrieally shaped member positioned inside the said cylinder, a series of tubes mounted in the cylindrically shaped member, two of the said tubes being at their top and bottom each provided with an external screw-thread adapted to be brought in connection with flexible tubes for introducing fresh air into the boats room and for expelling bad air therefrom, the third tube being adapted for the reception of a telephone cable, an external screw-thread at the outside of the cylindrically shaped innermost member intended for being screwed signa ture.
