As the photoelectric device 2 in my invention any cell may be employed such as photoelectric cell, selenium cell, photo-Galvanic cell, Thallofied cell, or the like. As the pattern sheet 4, any film or glass plate may be employed on which is painted or otherwise drawn a desired design. Or if desired a photographed film or glass plate may be employed.
In case of weaving different colored fabrics, the transparent wall 3 may be divided into a number of sections, and a pattern for each respective colored figure may be applied to each section.
The operation of the invention briefly 18 as follows:- The is passed through the lens 5 and is focussed on the transparent portion of the pattern 4, and then passing through the lens 6 it is projected u on the plate of the photoelectric device 2, w iereupon the current flowi n g through the circuit of the source of current 8 is intensified by the amplifier 9, and by the action of the relay 21 the circuit of the source of current 20 is closed, energizing that magnet 19 which is included in the circuit leading to the contact 12 at the time engaging with the contact arm 15, thus the hook pertaining to that energized magnet 19 is by. On the contrary, when the light from the source 1 is projected to the opaque portion of the pattern vice 2 will not be brought into action. Therefore the current flowing through the circuit of the source of current 8 is actuate the relay 21. Thus, the magnet 19 connected with that contact 12 which is at the time engaged by thecontact arm 15 is in the open circuit of the source of current 20, so that the hook pertaining thereto will not be acted upon and will maintain its normal position. In Figure 1, the right hand one of 19, and other two hooks are shown as maintaining the normal position. As will be seen from the foregoing, according to my invention, the magnets 19 are controlled by the photoelectric device 2, and the pattern on the film or glass plate will be thereby transferred directly to the sheddingsystem of the weaving loom or to thc card cutting machine, so that elaborately figured fabrics may be readily woven without necessitating the employment of the pattern cards and, in case of card cutting machines, superior cards may be manufactured, in a simple and economical manner.
What I claim is:
A photoelectrically controlled apparatus for use in looms for weaving figured fabrics and for figured-card cutting machines, comprising a source of light, a photoelectric device, controlled by the light projected through the pattern shcet,|a circuit including said photoelectric device, a source. of current, an amplifier and a relay, shedding motion hooks, a second circuit including a source of current, said relay, a contact arm arranged to be moved step by step in synchronisin with the movement of the pattern, a plurality of electro magnets and contacts with which saidcontact arm is arrangedto successively engage, the said electromagncts being each arranged to pull one of said hooks and means to push the hooks back to their original position.-
