Z tubes in which the metal in molten state 1s fed to and poured by means of a pouring channel into a rotating mould are already known, the pouring 5 channel and the mould 'having a relative movement.
Nevertheless, when tubes of small diameter are to be cast, this arrangement is open to considerable objections because the pouring channel tends to oscillate by reason of the shocks to which it is inevitably. subjected, and consequently it ma'y strike against the sides of the rotatin mould and thereby interfere with the regifiarity of the'casting's'. The present invention has for its 0 machine wherein the pouring channel is fixed while the mould is'mounted to rotate upon a carriage which is movable longitudinally, thetwo movements, that is, translation of the carriage and rotation of the mould, being controlled through suitable transmissions by two, electric motors, hich controls Machines for casting b ect a the one w the-rotationbeing mounted upon a carriage and movable therewith. g The other motor controls the straight motion of the truck carrying the moul an also controls the tilting of the reservoir com taining the molten metal, by
advantage is obtained over ther similararrangements having these two motions controlled by distinct motors thata uniform thickness of the cast tubes is secured. The single figure 0f the accompanying drawing shows by way of example and in cipal features of the improved machine.
In the arrangement illustrated, 1 indicates a carriage mounte on wheels 8 running on guides 9 and provided with rollers 2 mounted upon a longitudinal shaft 2' driven by means, of a suitable transmission 7 from an electric motor 5 mounted upon a su'table base 6 fixed to a metal casing 10hereinafter mentioned.
the rollers 2 rest the collars 3' of the tubular rotating mould 3'into which the fixed. pouring channel 3' pours the molten metal which comes from a feed reservoir B of any suitable type.
The rotation of rollers 2 causes the rotation ment isefiected by a motor trols the reservoir B.
enclosed in the cylindrical d therewith;
which means the latter; and aseparate driving diagrammatic longitudinal section the princomprising a of the mould 3. The motor 5 may, with the aid of a suitable transmission,.control a carriage-feeding mechanism which imparts to the carriage an axial translation movement at a suitable speed; this movement may also begiven to the carriage by another independent motor by means of kind. In the construction shown, this move- 11 which also con- T he mould is casing 10 which is ma of sheet iron and is adapted to prevent the dispersion of the cool-v means of peri the ing water which is sprayed by outer surface 0 forated tubes upon the rotating mould.
' The accessory arrangements may of course controls of any .otheri be varied without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What we claimis: 1. A centrifugal comprising a hollow, longitudinally-moving carriage casing is mounted; a tubular mould mounted within said casing to move longitudinally means for rotating said'mould to the casing; ing channel extending within said moul a tiltable' feeding reservoir metal and discharge it into said" channel; an electric motor; a driving connection between said "motor and reservoir for tilting the cylindrical casing; a
relatively tween the motor and carriage to efiect the ad: vance of said carriage.
2. A centrifugal tube-casing apparatus, hollow, cylindrical casing; a longitudinally-movable carriage whereon t e casing is mounted; a tubular mould mounted within said casing to .move longitudinally therewith; a motor mounted on the upper portion of said casing; a connection between said motor-and said mould to rotate the mould relatively to the casing; a ing channel extending within the mould; a tiltable feeding reservoir to receive molten metal and discharge it into said channel; a motor external to said casing; a driving connection between the last-named motor and the reservoir for tilting the latter and a sepaa stat onary pourconnection betubecasting apparatus,
whereon the a to receive molten advance of said carri rate driving connection between said lastnamed motor and the carriage tov eifect the gen 3. I In a centrifugal tube-casti av longltudinqlly-movable carnage; a tubuand carriage to effect the advance of said carriagef tures.
