This invention relates to portable building structures and has more particular reference to a sectional house of octagonal configuration constructed from ready-cut and readybuilt portable sections.
My principal aim is to generally improve upon structures of this class by providing an arrangement which is characterized by especially designed ready made sections of a form which facilitates assembling, and expeditjes handling in packing, storing, and handling from the factory to the ground on which the house'is to be erected.
'The particular features, advantages and -clivei-sifieduses of this improved construction will become more readily apparent from the following description and drawings.
Que structural improvement is predicated 1 upon the provision of a novel roof structure s made from substantially triangular companion sections which, when assembled, form a substantially truncated pyramidal roof, said roof being advantageous in that it is A made to accommodate a ventilator. Another feature in the construction is the twopart floor composed of substantially semi-octagonal complemental sections. A further feature is found in the employment of substantially rectangular side panels properly braced and provided with dowel pin connectors to facilitate handy erection and assembly. 7
A still further feature is embodied in practical attaching cleats carried by the upper v portion of the side panels and joined to adjacent rafters of the roof section.
Other features in the construction will become more readily apparent from the follow- 7 ing description and drawings: In the drawings:
Figure 1 is an elevational view of an octagonal house constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the same. s Figure 8 is a central vertical section taken approximately on the plane of the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Figure t is a horizontal section on the line 4-4 of Figure 3.
Figures 5 and 6 are detail cross sections on the lines 55 and 66 respectively of Fig ure 2.
Figure 7 is a fragmentary perspective view showing one of the dowel pin connectors.
As before stated, the building is octagonal in outline and configuration. Starting then with the floor, it will be observed that it is composed of a pair of duplicate half sections 8 and 9 which are disposed in abutting relationship. These comprise floor boards 10 fastened to appropriately arranged floor joists 11.
Around the margin and projecting to the exterior is a ledge 12 which functions as a water apron as well as a supporting ledge. The adjacent joists, that is the two central joists of the sections 8 and 9 are bolted together as at 13.
The sectional side walls or panels are gen erally designated by the reference characters 1 1 and each one comprises a plurality of abut ting vertical boards 15 joined together in assembled relation by a plurality of horizontally disposed vertically spaced braces. These braces, because of their functional re sults areseparately distinguished in the following manner.
The lowermost brace 16 is spaced upwardly from the lower edges of the board 15 and functions as a rest in that it rests upon the marginal portion of the floor, In addition, it constitutes a mop board. This allows the projecting lower end portion of the boards 15 to seat firmly on the ledge 12 as shown in the assembly of Figure 3.
The intermediate or central brace 17 may well be distinguished as a rail. The top braces which terminate flush with the upper ends of the boards 15, may be defined as roof supporting and attaching bars 18. All of these braces 16, 17 and 18 are provided with alternate socket and dowel pins. The dowel pins are each designated by the reference character 19 and fit into companion sockets in the complementalends of the adjacent braces. This affords an expeditious method of firmly attaching the side panels in joined relationship.
In this connection, I call attention to the fact that the reference character 20 in Figure Gdesignates oneof a plurality of metal attaching and coupling cleats.

I now call attention to the construction of the roof. It will be observed that this is of truncated pyramidal configuration and is;
' composed of a plurality ofseparate and in dependent sections denoted by the-reference relatively short transverse rafter The latter rafter is spaced inwardly from the out-V er ends'of the rafters 24 as clearly shown in Figure 6 so that it rests in an inclined position on the upper edge portions oftlie side panels 14.
