To assemble the forward end elements of the flashlight, therefore, it is merely neces-` sary to set the end disc 11, carrying the contacts and lamp sockets, upon the end of the flashlight casing 10; place the cylindrical spacing member 22 thereupon and telescope the hood collar 20 over the assembled'parts 10, 11 and 22 until the flange 23 rests upon the outer end of the spacing member 22. To
secure the parts together thereafter it is only necessary to secure the hood collar to the battery casing 10 which may be accomplished by means, say, of one or more eyelets 24 or by staking the hood collar to the casing 10,
It will thus be seen that the flashlight end ispermanently and securely mounted upon the end of the battery container so that the hood and its associated parts are carried at the proper position with respect to the lamp by operations of assembly of eXtreme simplicity requiring only fastening operations of a simple nature.
Various modilications will occur to those skilled in the art in the configuration and l composition of the component elementsgoing to make up the flashlight end structure as well as in the devices used to secure the hood collar to the battery casing without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the appended Claim. What I claim is v In a flashlight, in combination, a cylindrii cal battery containing a casing of non-conductive material, a lamp socket support comprising a disc of non-conductive material seated upon the end of the casing and of a diameter substantially that of the casing, a cylindrical member of non-conductive material of substantially the same outside diameter as the outside diameter of the casing and seated upon said lamp socket support disc, a hood collar telescoped over said end of the casing and formed with an inwardly extending flange at its outer end to engage the end of the cylindrical member remote from the lamp socket support disc, and means to permanently secure the hood collar to the casing to retain the vparts rigidly together.
