l This invention relates. to a nasal pellet, that is to a device adapted to be inserted into the nasal cavity for use in the treatment of head colds, headaches, sinus trouble, nasal catarrh, and irritated conditions of the nasal and respiratory7 passages, and the like, and

l an object7 of the invention is to provide a pellet which will be ractical and eflicient. or its purposeand W ich may be manufactured and marketed at reasonable cost.

A more specific object is to provide a pellet which may be easily and conveniently placed in position of use and which will permit of an ample ow of air incident toy the breathing of .the user.

A further wspecific .object ,is to provide a pellet which4 is adapted for carrying a suitable inhalant and whichwill hold the inhalant out of direct contact with the delicate membranous surface of the nasal cavity.

Other objects and aims of the invention, morefor less specific than those referred to above, will be in part obvious and in part pointed out in the course of the following description of the elements, combinations arrangements of parts and applications o principles constituting the invention; and the scope of protection contemplated will be indicated in the appended claims.

terial, such as absorbent cotton wound or rolled into a pencil-like form, as indicated in` F ig. 5, and then cut off in appropriate lengths, as l, indicated by the dotted lines L-L in Fig. 5, each cut-off section being one of the pellets here contemplated. In producing the rolls or pellets the sheet is wound quite loosely so that numerous air passages as G occurbetween the layers in the roll, said air passages being intended for permitting a suitable flow of air longitudinally through the pellet incident to the breathing of the user. It is contemplated furthermore that the material, as H, of the sheet itself may be suitably librous and porous so lthat a certain amount of air can percolate therethrough longitudinally of the roll to further increase the air passage area through the roll.

In additlon to these air passages the roll sages above described as extending longitudinally through the pellet will have their walls saturated to a greater or less extent with said inhalant so that air moving through said passages will be laden there-2 with, it being intended thatl this laden air shall be beneficial when breathed in by the user.

The coating N, while somewhat stiffer than the material from-which the body of the pellet is formed it nevertheless is itself suitably soft and pliable so as not to be harsh or injurious to the membranes of the nasal cavity. A thin mixture of`starch or gelatine, or the like, may be suitable for this coating. n
