IMPROVEMENT IN TRACE-DETACHERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 180,413, dated August 1, 1876 application filed July 5, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN BUGKLEY, of of Grundy and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trace-Detachers and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, that will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use thesame, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The same letters and figures of reference are used to indicate the corresponding parts.
After describing the invention, its nature and extent will be shown in the claims.
The object of my invention is to enable the driver to immediately detach the horses from a carriage, in the event of their becoming unmanageable from any cause.

what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1.- In a horse-detacher, the whiffletree 0, provided with the bent draw-pins e e, in combination with the rod D, the quadrant cl, and the arm 0, substantially as described, and for the purposes set forth.
2. The whiffletree (1, provided with the bent draw-pins c c, in combination with the clipf, the bolt I), rod D, provided with the quadrants d d, and the arm 0, and spring h, substantially as described and shown, and for the purposes set forth.
