Description

J'. EGAN.
PNEUMATIC ACTIONS FOR PIPE-ORGANS. No. '179,902. 'P atented J'u1y18. 1876 N. FETERS. HOTOLITHDGRAFHER. WASHINGTON. D. c,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
JOHN EGAN, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEMENT IN PNEUMATIC ACTIONS FOR PlPE-ORGANS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l 79,902, dated July 18, 1876 application filed January 6, 1876.
To all whom 't may cant-em Be it known that I, JOHN EGAN, ofMilwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee, in the State ot' Wisconsin, have invented certain Improvements in Pneunatic Acion on Sound-Boards of Organs, ot' which the following is a speciication:
The object of my in vention is to give quicker and ino'e certain action in the pneumatic action on sound-boards of organs; and consists in the const'uction of parts, as hereinafter described, to give a particularly-quick movement of the valves, by which the operator may have complete control of the organ.
Figure 1 is a sectional View of my inven tion.
A is the outside case; B, the lower or outside valve; O, the middle valve; D, rod with which .the valve U is held open; E, spring which closes the valve B; E, the bellows; G, upper Valve, which opens to let air to the pipe I H, spring attached to and keeps the upper valve closed; I, organ-pipe K, rod attached to valve B, which, With a pedal or manual key, operates the valves B and G; L, airchamber; M, air-passage to the bellows; O, air-passage to the air-chamber; P, a stop on rod D, which holds valveC open; Q,rod with lows collapses it, and the projection R on the end ot" the bellows opens valve G and lets the air pass to the pipe, and the organ sounds, and when the valve U iselesed again the air passes through passage M to the inside of the* bellows, and it is ready for action again, the bellows being inflated by the action of spring H, which closes the valve Gr at the same time.
I claim In a pueumatic action for organs, the valves B, C, and G, the spring E, and bellows F, c0mbiued and arranged to operate substantially as and for the purpose described.
JOHN EGAN.
