I have discovered that due to vibration from passing vehicles the track element Z cannot be rigidly secured to rails 24-24, for if so secured, the creeping and other movements of the rails will soon work it loose, causing poor magnetic contact with the rails. Ass the track circuit is the well known basis for operating automatic train control or other forms of signalling, it is obvious that magnetic core l, cannot be welded thereto, as it would cause a short circuit.
ll'hat I claim is I. As a container for the track magnet of an inductive train control system for a railway, the combination of top and bottom plates, side plates and end plates with means for rigidly connecting all of the plates together to form a hollow structure containing a track magnet and coil therein, one of said end plates being formed with an orifice and all of the free space of the' container being filled with an insulating compound except a cavity adjacent to and connecting with the said orifice, and terminal strips in said cavity.

As a track element of an inductive train control system for a railway having rails, the combination of a track magnet disposed transversely of the rails and positioned with one end adjacent one rail and the other end adjacent the other rail and each end separated from its adj acent rail by non-magnetic material, an electric conducting coil having terminals disposed on the magnet intermediate its ends, a water tight container enclosing the magnet and coil, except adjacent the ends of the magnet in proximity to the rails, terminal strips within the container connected to the terminals of the coil,'said container formed with an orifice and filled with an insulating compound except a cavity communicating with the orifice and containing the terminal strips, means for reaching the cavity from without the container, means for connecting a conduit to said orificenmd means for resiliently connecting the container to the underside of the rails.

As a means for supporting a track magnet adjacent the underside of a rail, the combination of two stirrups spaced apart and attached to the rail and extending downwardly therefrom, and a yoke having two ends one resting in each stirrup, and a spring resting on the yoke and disposed to hold the magnet adjacent the underside of the rail.

In combination with a railway track consisting of rails and ties for supporting the same.; of an inductive trackway device cent said rails and having a predetermined and fixed relation to said rails independent of relative movement of rails and ties for transmitting inductive control influences to a passing railway vehicle comprising', a core of laminated magnetic material terminating in poles, a coil on said core, a housing of non-magnetic material enclosing said core and coil except the pole faces of said core, an opening in said casing having a conduit connected thereto, and wires connected to the ends of said coil and contained in said conduit.

An influence communicating element for automatic train control system comprising, a core consisting of a' stack of laminae of mag-- netic material, clamps surrounding said core at points adjacent to its ends, a coilion said core between said clamps, and a casing of non-magnetic material for housing said core and coil, said casing having openings through which the ends of said core extend.

Influence communicating means for automatic train control systems comprising, a core of laminated magnetic material terminating in pole faces, a coil on said core having lead-out wires leading therefrom, a. casing of non-magnetic material for housing said core and coil having a compartment associated therewith containing an opening extending into said casing and having a wire conduit extending therefrom, wires in said conduit, and readily detachable wire connecting means in said compartment for connecting said lead-out wires to the wires in said conduit. Influence crsm'inumicating means for automatic train control systems comprising, a core of laminated magnetic material terminating in extensions having pole faces, a coil on said core, a casing of non-magnetic material for housing said core and having openings through which said extensions project, and means for wholly supporting said casing directly by the rails of a railway track, whereby the space relation between the track rails and said core' is permanently fixed.
