COMBINED SCORE SHEET AND TALLY .FORM
Application filed February 14, 1929. Serial No. 339,870.
My present invention has for its object to provide an extremely simple score sheet and tally members arranged on a single piece of material and having tearing lines between the score sheet and tally members on which the tally members may be readily detached from the score sheet and from each other.
This combined score sheet and tally members While extremely simple and of relatively small cost to produce may be arranged and decorated in a very attractive manner and stored or shipped in compact form in which they are laid flat the one upon the other.
The invention while intended for general use when playing games is especially well adapted for use in playing 500, pivot or progressive bridge and when thus used, eacl score sheet will contain two score forms and each tally member will have a tally form on one of its faces. The score sheet is preferably provided with an intermediate folding line on which the score sheet may be folded upon itself and tearing lines are formed between the score sheet and tally members whereby the tally members may be readily detached from the score sheet and each other. At the time the combined score sheet and tally members are to be used the score sheet is preferably folned on its folding line and the tally members folded on certain of the tear- "ing lines upon the score sheet and in some instances upon each other. The purpose of thus folding the score sheet and tally members is to engage the same in compact and attractive form before they are laid upon each table. At the time the players gather about the tables one player at each table picks up the folded combined score sheet and tally members, unfolds the same, detaches the tally,
members from the score sheet on the tearing lines and hands each player one of the tally members or lays the same on the table before the players.
To the above end, generally stated, the invention consists of the novel parts and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and defined in the claim. a
In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate the invention, like characters indicate like partsthroughout the several views.
Referring to the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a face view of the combined score sheet and tally members;
c Fig. 2 is aback view of the combined score sheet and tally members;
Fig. 3 is a face view showing the combined score sheet and tally members partially folded;
Fig. 4; is a face view showing the combined score sheet and tally members completely folded; and
Figs. 5 to 7 inclusive, are diagram views which show by means of full and broken lines, different arrangements of the tally members in respect to the score sheet.
The numeral 8 indicates ascore sheet and the numeral 9 indicates four tally members formed from a single piece of stifi paper or other suitable material. Said score sheet 8 is provided with an intermediate folding line 10 which divides said sheet into two leaves 11 and 12 of equal area. Tearing lines 13 are formed between the tally members 9 and the score sheet 8 and between each other, whereby said tally members may be readily detached from the score sheet 8 as indicated by broken lines in Fig. 2.
On the face of the leaf 11 are the worlds 7 Progressive bridge score together with the symbols, hearts, clubs, diamonds and spades in their customary color and on the back of this leaf are the oflicial progressive bridge rules,.oflicial laws, values, etc. On each face of the leaf 12 is a score form and each tally member 9 has on its face the word Tally and one of the symbols shown on the face of the leaf 11 in color and on the back of each tally member 9 is a tally form.
It will be noted that the combined area of the four tally members 9 is substantially the same as the area of the score sheet 8, whereby said tally members may be folded onto the score sheet 8. The arrangement of the tally members 9 is also such that the score sheet 8 may be folded on its folding line 10 and certain of the tally members 9 folded onto each other with all of said tally members. within the area of the folded leaves 11 and 12.
In Figs. 1 to 4, inclusive, the tally mem- 5") bers 9 are arranged two at each side of the score sheet 8. Figs. 5 to 7 inclusive, show various other arrangements of the tally members 9 in respect to the score sheet 8. In Fig. 5 the tally members 9 are at the top of the score sheet 8 as indicated by means of full lines and at the bottom thereof as indicated by means of broken lines. F ig. 6 shows the tally members 9 arranged two at the top .of.
the score sheet 8 and two at the bottom there of, while in Fig. 7 all of the tally members 9 are located at the righthand side ofthe score sheet 8 as indicated by means of full lines and at the left hand side thereof as indicated by meansof broken lines.
What I claim is:
As an article of manufacture a single rectangular sheetdivided by lines of demarcation into atleast fivedistinct-sections which are separably united by lines of'scoring one of said sections being of a size equal to the remainder of said sections and positioned intermediate said sections, whereby said sections may be folded over to cover said intermediate section, said intermediate section having appropriate designated spaces adapting it for use as a score card, and said other sections having identically designated spaces for recording totals of consecutive gamesfor each of fourplayersand adapted to remain integral with the scoring section during playing and recording of a game at a single table, and distinguishing symbols on the back of each of the aforesaid foldable sections designating the partners in a game and identifying the players when the foldable seotionsare integral with or separated from the scoring section, said foldable sectionsbeing so con-- structed and arranged wlth relation to said intermediate section as to cover the score card and recording spaces thereon when folded on one face'of the intermediate section and when folded on the other face of the intermediate-section to present the appropriately designated spaces of the four sections in ,ad-'
jacent relationship for computing the results of the game.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
