A still further object of the present invention is to provide a novel form of block or slab suspension in which the hooks employed for suspending the block or slab are in no way connected with the longitudinal reinforcing rods.
Other and further objects of the present in-- vention reside in the provision of general details of construction and in the arrangement and combination and connection of parts for attaining the results sought by the foregoing objects.
The invention consists of the novel construction hereinafter described and finally claimed.
The nature, characteristic features and scope of the invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, and in which:

Fig. 5, is a fragmentary view illustrating a block or slab as suspended from a girder.
For the purpose of illustrating my invention I have shown in the accompanying drawings one form thereof which is at present preferred by me, since the same has been found in practice to give satisfactory and reliable results, although it is to be understood that the various instrumentalities of which my invention consists can be variously arranged and organized and that my invention is not limited to the precise arrangement and organization of the instrumentalities as herein shown and described.
Referring to the drawings in detaiL'the reference numeral 1 designates a block or slab of cementitious material as employed in the erecting of ceilings. Each end of the block or slab is provided with cut-away port-ions, those at the left hand end of Fig.
1 being designated by reference numeral 2, and those at the right hand end of Fig. 1 being designated by the reference numeralB. Extended longitudinally af the block or slab l is a pair of spaced metallic members 4 apertured as at 5. The outer end of each of these members 4 projects through a cut-away portion 2 in an upwardly inclined manner, best seen in Fig. 2. These projected ends of the members 4 provide hook-accommodating members. As shown in Fig. 5, a hook .6 is used in conjunction with a girder 7 for suspending a block or slab at each end of the block. That end of the block-or slab opposite the longitudinal members 4 is provided with a laterally extended cross piece which is embedded in the cementitious material of the block or slab as are the members 4. However, the members 4 are relatively flat whereas the cross member 8 is preferably of circular cross section. It may also be stated that the apertures of the members 4 serve to accommodate the cementitious material so as to provide a good anchorage. The cross member 8 is bent outwardly as at 9 to form hanger accommodating portions which project into the cut-away portions 3 of the block or slab. Also extended laterally of the block or slab but at the end opposite the cross piece 8 is another .cross piece 10 also of circular cross section which serves as a reinforcement for the end of the, block or slab. In the connection it is tobe noted that this reinforcing piece 10 does not touch the members4 so that no conducting of a metallic sound is present. This is also true with respect to the longitudinal i reinforcing pieces 11 which do not touch either the cross piece 8 or 10 or the members 4.
A construction of parts as above set forth provides a very simple and eflicient ceiling block in which Vibratory noises therethrough is reducedto a minimum due tothelack of contactinglof metal parts within the block.
Further, the above described blockis very simple in structure andcomparatiyely easy to make, and may be readily placed-in posiion upon a ceiling by unskilled labor..
hat I claim is:
1. In a building construction, a slab of cem- M entitious material of relatively thick cross section having embedded therein parallel, longitudinal reinforcing rods, each end of said bloclchavingspaced cut away portions, a pair .of spaced longitudinal relatively flat aperturedhook accommodating members embedded ain said block and projected through the cult-away portions at one end of the block, and a laterally extended-hookaccommodating member-embedded in the block, said member having outwardly bent portions pro jected crossswise and throughthe said spaced cut-away portions at the other end of the block. 1

In a building construction, a slab of cementitious materialof relatively thick cross section having embedded L therein parallel, longitudinal reinforcing rods, each end of saidublockhaving spaced cut away portions, a pair of spacedlongitudinal relatively flat apertured hookaccommodating members embeddedfln said block and projected. at an angle through the cut-away portions atone endof the block, and a laterally extended hook accommodating member embedded in the block, said member having outwardly bent, portions projeted cross wise and. at an angle through the said spaced cut-away portions at the other end of the block.
