This invention relates to improvements in a stop motion for a twister of theso-called doll roll type. In such twisters the more usual horizontal feed rolls are replaced by i single doll rolls, rotatableon vertical axes and around which the yarn is fed in a helical path. 1 V r It is the object of my invention to provide improved meansfor stopping any one of the doll rolls upon breakage of theyarn fed therefrom, and to providemeans for pre-" venting rebound of the doll roll when the rotation thereof is thus stopped.

Referring to the drawings, I have shown aportion of a twister frame having the usual spindles S mounted on a spindle rail 12 and supporting spools or bobbins B, ro-
tatable in rings 13 mounted on a ring rail 14. Yarn spools are looselymountedlon creel rods 22 and supply y'arnstrands Y'from which the thread T is twisted.

It has been found in high speed operation that this abrupt stoppingv of thedoll roll frequently causes a rebound thereof suflicient V on the upper surface of the plate 34, so po sitioned that it will engage onefface of the oflset lug 62 whenever the doll roll'is stopped ver.

Such engagement of the lug 70 with the lug 62 prevents reverse motion or rebound of the doll roll, and consequently prevents re-engagement *of the pawl 35 and, consequent breakage thereof.
