My invention relates to supporting devices for conductors and has particular reference to trolley and feeder conductors in mines.
One object of my invention'is to providea device which will support not only the trolley conductor but the feeder conductor therefor and in which the device will act as an equalizer between the two conductors. Another object is to provide a device with clamping arrangement ,which will accommodate a wide range of feeder conductors aswell as a considerable range of trolley conductors thus economizingin the number of devices a mine would be obliged to Lcarry to meet its requirements. Another object Visto providea device with clamping mechanism for the conductors which will open by gravity and therefore does not requireholding the clamping mechanisms open while installing the conductors. A still further object is to remove the feeder conductor away from the trolley conductores far as possible withinreason, thereby lessening the chances'of the flying.` trolley pole becoming entangled with the conductors.
My invention resides in the new and novel construction, combination and relation of the various parts hereinafter described and shown in the drawing.

In the preferred embodiment ofmy invention I employ a socket 1 internally'threaded as indicated at 2rto receive a hanger or other supporting device. Projecting laterally and at right angles to the axis of the socket 1 is a straight arm 3 havingr at the free end a tubular portion 4 which has a passage therethrough comprising a part 5 of less diameter than the part 6; Projecting inwardly at the lower end of the member' 4 is an annular flange 7.v j L Mounted within the tubular member 5 and projecting from both ends thereof isc lamping mechanism comprising a pair of jawsS having co-operating li'ps 9 to receive and grip a trolley vwire 10. A supporting device comprising a tubular member having a two part continuous passage therethrough in which one part is of larger diameter than the other part and an inwardly projecting flange at the larger part, clamping mechanism slidably mounted within the tubular member and free'to move downwardly by gravity and to open to receive a trolley wire as 1t moves downwardly by gravity, the said mechanism comprising a pair ofv clamping jaws having co-operating clamping means at one end, a threaded stud extending through and beyondv the smaller passage in theV tubular member, the jaws and stud hinged together at a common point and means on each jaw to engagethe flange and form a fulcrum point therewith about which the jaws pivot when they move downwardly or upwardly to open or close the jaws respectively and a threaded member mounted on the stud and engaging the tubular member to support the clamping mechanism and limit its downward movement and to move it upwardly andvinto clamping relation with the trolley wire when the threaded member is l rotated and means secured to the tubular member to receive a hanger to support they supporting device. A supporting device comprising a threaded socket to receive a hanger, an arm projecting laterally therefrom, an arm pro` jecting downwardly and away from the socket, a clamping mechanism secured to the irst arm to open by gravity and receive and grip a conductor below the said arm, a clamping mechanism secured to the second arm to open by gravity and receive and grip a` conductor above the said arm.
