This invention relates to improvements inrazors ofthe typeset'forth inmy pending application, Ser. No.:2865534.
The primary object of this invention is to :provide adevice of the above mentioned 7 character h'avingarplurality-of cutting blades which may be employed independently.
Another objecto'f this invention is to pro-- vide a device of theabove mentioned charac- 19 ter which isa'dapted to include a handleand blades: mounted on' opposite ends of the handle which may be shaving or cutting hair.
A still further object of this invention is to provide adevi'ce of'the above :mentioned character, having a springclip member for holding the razor blade in operative position and means also being provided for moving the cutting edgeiofthe;ra-zor.blade into and out of operative cutting position.
' Other objects and'advantages of this invention will become apparent during the course ofthe following description forming a part of this specification and in which Figure I 1 is alongitudinal plan view ofan embodiment of this'inventiomshowing the relative parts for .holdingz'the razor blade in cutting position. i
Figure 2 is a similiar view showing the 39 clamping springspartly in cross section. V Figure 3 is a longitudinal elevational view showing the arrangement of the opposite blade holders carried by the spring clips,
Figure 4 is an end view showing the contour of the blade holding sections.
Figure 5 is a cross sectional view taken on lines 5'5 of Figure 1 showing the arrangement for holding the razor blade in position upon the blade holder.
on lines 66 of Figure 1 showing the manner blade holder.
[Figure 7 is a fragmentary cross sectional.
view taken on lines 7-7 of Figure 1 showing the relation of the spring holderwto the blade carrier and the sliding connection. between the blade holder and the comb.
Figure 8 shows a modified form of the in,-
vention and is a longitudinal planview of alternately used in therefor.
For the purpose of illustration attention a Figure 6 is a cross sectional view taken the same showing a'difierent form of sliding connection for the bladeholder.
Figure 9 is a longitu'dinal plan view-simllarto F-igure 8 showing the spring holding clips broken away and tlie' slots inthe com'b portions .for'slidably carrying the "blade holder. I
Figure 10 is an elevational view of the modified form of the invention showing the arrangement of the spring clips for holding the blade carrying plates in position.

Each jendportion'f is as shown in d's 5 and and=each triangular 'cross section: portionis provided with a seriesof furcati'ons 8 arrangedin-such a manner; as to provide a series of comb teeth- 9 l; v Each opposite end-portion? is provided with a pair of slots. 10 which extend transfverselyin respect to the handle'6 and the slots 10 are; adapted toreceive the fianges 11 formed "onfi the blade i clamping plate 12. The blade clamping plate 12 is provided with lugs 13 which are adaptedto pass through openings in a well known type"ofrazor blade. The construction describedallows free trans versemovement of the blade clampingplate .12 dth gfaggrblade wjhich'is clamped angular in cross section j betwzeen the clamping plate 12 and end member a i A spring member 15 is secured to. the handle 6 by a screw 16 and its free movable end is provided with a pin 17 which is in alinement 'with'an opening 18 in the clamping plate 12,- so that the spring-clip 15 may 'be moved relative 'to its pivot point 16 thereblade 12% andthereby prevent hairs from becoming wedged between the blade 1A and the combs 9a The longer plane portion opposite the cutting blade 14- is adapted to engage the surface of the skin while being used by a barber or the operator of the razor holding device. 1
Attention is now directed to Figures 8 to 14 inclusive wherein is shown amodified form of razor blade holder which is similar to the form shown in Figures 1 to 7 inclusive with exception that the modified form shows a different sliding connection between the clamping plate and the holderfor the razor blade. 1 v
, The modified structure includes a handle 6 having opposite enlarged portions 7 which are formed integral withthe handle portion 6 Each enlarged portion 7 isprovided with opposite comb teeth 8 The two sets of comb teeth 8 are provided in the modified construction for providing four independent cutting surfaces for: the interchangeable blades. The blade holder 25 is provided withpins 26 adapted to be received in openings 27 in the enlarged portion 8 and the clamping plate 25 is adapted to clamp the razor blade 28 therebetween. formed on the clamping plate 25 are adapted to register with the openings in awell known make of razor blade 28 and the pins 26 are adapted to slide in the arcuately slotted openlngs 27. Aclamping'spring 29 is slotted as at 30 and is secured tothe handle portion 6 by a screw 31 having a bearing surface 32 for the slot 30. The "opposite end of the spr ng clip 29 is provided with a pin 33 which is adapted to pass through the clamping plate 25 and through an opening in the The pins 26' 1 The device described may be employed for cutting hair and the blade may be adjusted relative to the edge ofthe comb teeth for cutting more or less hair as may be desired.
It is to be understood, that the'forms of the invention herein described are to be taken as preferred examples of the same and that various changes in the shape size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention'or the scope of the subjoined claims.
Havingthusdescribed my invention, what Icla'im is:
1. A razor blade holder, ahandle, comb teeth formed on a razor clamping plate slid ably carriedbyxthe ends of the handle, said clamping plate adapted to be moved transversely in respect to the handle, a razor blade adapted to be carried by the clamping plate positioned between the clamping plate and the comb teeth portions of the handle, and
a spring clip having one of its ends secured to the handleportion and its opposite end secured to the razor blade clamping plate for holding thesame in position relative to the comb teeth sections. y
2. A razor blade holder,:including a handle portion, comb teeth. formed on lateral edges of the handle, aclamping plate adapted to be carriedadjacentto the comb teeth portions, pins formed onthe clamping plate adapted to be received "in. transverse slots formed 'on opposite ends of the handle, a razor blade adapted to be carried by the pins on the clampingplate, a spring cliphaving one of its ends bifurcated for receiving a screw'which is'secured'to the handle portion andaxpin formed on the opposite end of the spring clip adapted to pass through an opening in the clamping plate and also through an opening in the razor blade and thence into opposite ends of the handle.
ln testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
J OHN KEENAN.
a transverse intermediate slot formed on the razor blade 28 which aligns with the slotted opening 34. The pin 33 is slidably received in the openlng 3A and thereby allowstransverse movement of the clamping plate 25 and razor blade 28 relative to the comb pori tion8 .7
, Either one of the comb portions 8 be used and it will be readily seen that the clamping plate 25 andrazor blade28 may be transversely shifted from one 'set. of comb teeth to the opposite set of comb teeth.
