ELECTRIC SWITCH Filed Jan. 29, 1923 Patented Dec. 30 1930 UNITED srArEs ATENT oFFicE ramnmcx n. ADAM, on s'r. Louis, mssouar ELECTRIC SWITCH Application filed January 29, 1923. Serial No. 615,626.
My invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and particularly pointed out inthe claims. In describing the various arrange-- switch in which all the live parts arecon cealed. The other objects and'advanta es of my invention will appear in the remain er of this/specification.
In the drawings, Fig. l is a cross-sectional 2o view of my switch and Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same switch.
In the drawings, 28 is a frame, preferably made of metal, and preferably having a horizontal upper portion with sides extending downwardly therefrom. In each side 29 of the frame is an aperture 30, preferably `y shaped. 31 is a notch in the. sides 29 and being part of the aperture 3() for the purpose of permitting the switch bridge 32 to be insertedand removed from `the frame 28. At tached to the switch bridge 32 are the switch blades 33. 34 is a switch lever having a reduced portion 35 at its upper extremity. 36 is a shoulder upon the switch lever. 37' is a 35 handle. 38 is a washer adapted to it'upon a reduced portion 35 of the switch lever and rest against the shoulder 36. *f 39 shows a preferred form of attaching the handle to the switch lever, namely7 vby riveting the end of 40 the switch lever. It is obvious that any other means of attachment may beused. The aperture 40 in the handle 37 I may prefer to close with some suitable material. Attached to the lower extremity of the switch lever is a spring 4l, the other end of this sprinor being connected to the switch bridge 32. Iy my arrangement of spring bridge and switch lever I am able to throw over the switch bridge from the olf to the on position by the action of the spring under a stretching tenthe said members.
' tudinally of the frame n where the lever element extends-through the sion and from the on to the o position by starting it with the switch lever irst and finishing the action by the stretching tension ofthe spring. l
I claim e5 l. A switch, comprising a frame havingaC top member and two sides, a bridge member supported by the frame, switch blades attached to the bridge, a switch lever bent to form a bearing portion in operative engagement with the top member of the frame, and extending between the sides of the frame, and a spring-directly connecting the switch lever and the bridge member.
2. A switch, comprising a frame having a top portion and side portions, a bridge member supported in openings in the frame, a switch lever extending between vthe sides of the frame, and having a portion in bearing engagement with the inner side of portion, and a spring directly connecting the bridge member and the switch lever.
3. In a'switch, a frame having an opening l therein, a bridge member removably supported in said opening, a cross-member in said frame having a slot therein, a switch leverex'tending through said slot and bent to form a bearing portion engaging said cross-member adjacent said slot, and a spring directly connecting the bridge member and y theswitch lever. v
4. A switch comprisinga frame with sides, and a spacer element therebetween, a switch blade carrying member supported by the frame, a one-piece switch o erating member adapted vfor movement su stantially in a plane, and having a portion bent in the plane of its movement for bearing engagement with said spacer,=and an elastic connection between .5. ,A switch comprising a Iframe of onpieceJ construction including `a pair of walls and a connecting piece therefor, a switchblade carrying member, a switch operating lever element having a portion bent longito form a fulcrum connecting piece, and adapted operatively and distantly to position the lever with re- :on
the top I0l connecting thel spect thereto, and an elastic connection` between the member and the lever.
an apertured top, carrying member, having a portion 6. A switch comprising and sides(l a switch blade a-switch operating lever bent into movable bearing relation with the aperturedrportion of said top, and a Spring member and the lever.
H7. A switch oomprising'a top having a slot therein, and sides, a bridge member carrying switch-blades, said bridge being supported by said frame, `a one-piece switch-operating lever singularly bent to form a fulcrum portion adjacent s aid top, the-slot therein, and a spring connecting the bridge member and theF operating lever.
