My present invention relates to a novel sys,-r
tem of ignition of explosive' mixtures, and,rv has' for its object to provide a possibility for Y A employing any kind of fuel such. as, fuel oil', gas oil, kerosene,- naphtha, benzine, alcohol, i etc., thereby providing for a great economy j proved operation of the motor.
In order that the invention may be better understood, same has been illustrated on the;
appended drawing showing a sectional view of the unit.
' The construction of the present device is very slmple and the same comprises a pump for the fuel spray which pump causes the fuel to pass through a wire heated by an electrical current when passing into the cylinder. The said wire is connected to any source of electrical current, in any adequate 2U or approved manner. j In the said drawing, 1 denotes the ignition wire, 2 is the piston head of the motor, 3 indicates the piston segments'or rings; 4 is the fuel sprayV nozzle, 5 being the valve thereof; 2;, 6 is the electric -battery or current supply; 7 is the terminal for the filament; 8 isa lever for opening the nozzle valve; 9 is the fuel pipe; 10 denotes the cylinder of the motor; 11 is a cooling chamber; 12 is lthe gudgeon 31. pin; l13 isA the fuel pump which adjusts automatically the pressure within the pipe 9 and chamber 24. 14 is a spring adjusting f the pressure degree of the fuel; 15 represents a fuel tank; 16 is'a cam actuating the pump lever; 17 is a lever for actuation of thefuel pump; 18 is the adjusting screw thereon; 19 is the connecting rod to the piston; 20 is the second terminal of the ignition wire; 21 is a terminal. for battery; 22 is the switch for the ignition wire circuit, 23 is a cam actuating the valve lever of the spray nozzle, 24 v is the hot fuel chamber; 25 represents a heating filament for the fuel; 26 is a terminal lfor the fuel heating filament; 27 is an insurlated terminal carrying the current to the heating filament for the fuel; 28 is a switch for the circuit for the fuel heating filament; 29 is a current adjusting resistance on the filament, in order to adjust the temperature o f the fuel.
Theo ,erationofythe device isyasfollowsz-Q' j Thek lament 1 isfmade incandescentvby lmeans' of an yelectric current obtained through sanysystem, for example, by'means of an accumulator battery, 6 asshown in the drawing. 55
v`'The electric circuit'isclosedby means of vthe as regards expenses of operation, and an'lm- 4 y l j j Y positive pole of ythe battery, through terminal switcl1`22` and the currenty passes from theL 7 which leads. thecurrent tok one point ofthe Y vfilament, the other'lpointlleading tothe motor 00 mass by meansofterminal 20. The negative pole of the accumulator'leads directly tothe motormass by means yof terminal 21, whereby theelectric circuit is closed. j
vvThe fuel is compressed fwithinfpipe19d-@by6,5-
means `of the pressure'adjusting pumpf13 when the piston travelsfupwardsduring Aits compression stroke compressing air. Atthe completion of its stroke, that-iS,atthecompletionof thefcompressiomthe cam 23 lifts the 7 valve lever of the spraynozzle thus permitting the fuel to pass (the fuel being already heated through filament 25)k on, As the fuel lis under a pressure greater than that existing within the cylinder, it enters the spray nozzle 4 and projects speedily onfto'the incandescent lilament whereby theexplosionis produced and the' motor is started. With ythis'arrangen ment, a motor may Work with any fuel, such as, fuel oil, ,gas oil, kerosene, naphtha, ben- 8 zine, alcohol, etc.
Obviously, when carrying this invention into practice, there may be made different modifications as construction is concerned, but all such modifications should not exceed the fundamentalprinciples of the invention as clearly set forth in the appended claims. V f Having thus fully described and ascertained the nature of my said inventiony and the manner in which the same is to be performedy what I claim as of my exclusive proprietorship and invention is et ,j
,1. The combination of a combustion engine, a pressure fuel supply having a conduit leading directly to al combustion chamber of the; engine; an electric heatingelement;Within` `and coextensivewith the conduit; and an ignition element within the chamber confron ing the inlet thereto from the conduit.
r 2. The combination of acombustion-en-H` wo' ine, a pressure fuel supply havin a conduit eading directly to a combustion c amber of the engine; an electric heating element within and coextensive with the conduit; an ignition element Within the chamber confronting the inlet thereto from the conduit; and timed meansregulatingthe admission of fuel tothej chamber incident with the compression period of the engine. Y
3. The combination of a combustion engine,
a pressure fuel supply havingk a conduit lead-y ing directly to a combustion chamber v.of the engine; an electric heating element Wit-hln and coextensive with the conduit; an ignltlon element within the chamber confrontlng the inlet thereto from the conduit; timed means regulating the admission of fuel to the chamber incident with the-compression period of the engine; and means for regulating the heating element and ignition element inde-A pendently or together.y
4. The combination of an internal combustion engine cylinder and piston therein, a fuel spray inlet nozzle leading into the cylinder; a
pressure fuel supply having an elongated del liver tube connected with the nozzle an electric eating element Within and coextensive with the tube; timed mechanism' having a valve Within the nozzle and opened on the compression stroke of the piston; and an ignition devlce confronting the nozzle and coac-` Vtive vWiththe heating elementv o r active independently thereof.
In testimony whereof I aiiix mg si LUIS N ature.
