IMPROVEMENT m PLOW-POINTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. I 77,973, dated May 30 1876; application filed April 7, 1876.
' to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention. 2 is an old plow-point. Fig. 3 is the new plow-point; and Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section, showing the new point attached to the old point. i
A represents the plow-point, having its end made solid, and its rear portion is made hollow. open at the rear or upper end, and formed with a slot, at, at each side. On the inside of the hollow portion of the point A are formed ribs b b, as shown. B represents the ordinary plow point, which has a notch, d, made in the two points, the paper -preventing the metal from running out through the holes a. When the soft metal cools it forms a lock between the old and new points by passing intov the slots to and notches d, the ribs 1) also as sisting in keeping the old point to its place.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The hollow plow-point A, provided with side slots a and interior ribs 1), in combination with an ordinary plow-point, B, provided with notches d, substantially as shown and described.
