IMPROVEMENT IN LINIMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,790, dated May 23, 1876; application filed April 7, 1876.
I To all whom it may concern:
' new composition of matter, being a Liniment for Rheumatism, of which the following is a written description sufficient to enable others skilled in the science to which it relates to compound and use the same.
This invention, relates to the well-known class of liniments and it consists of the compound herein set forth.
To prepare the liniment I take, of crotonoil, two drams; of tincture of iodine, four ounces of oil oforiganumfiourounccs of tincture of Spanish flies, four ounces, and of the spirits of turpentine, one pint. Mix well, and the liniment is ready for use.
This liniment is useful in all kinds of rheumatism. Its effect is to subdue the soreness, pain, and inflammation, and, consequently, to reduce swellings. Only ordinary-care is required in applying it to the skin. It should not beapplied too oftenor too lavishly. As in the use of all other liniments, balsams, and the like, the feelings of the patient and the common sense of the nurse indicate the quantity and frequency of the application.
