IMPROVEMENT'IN MILLSTONE-D'REISSERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 77,698, dated May 23,1876 application filed April 25, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
.Be it known that I, AUGUSTINE DEFO R, of- Etna, Fillmore county, Minnesota, have invented a new and Improved Millstone-Dressing Machine, of which the following is a specification My invention is a 'contrivance for working the pick by a crank mechanism, and feeding it along at the same time in the line of the crack being made by-the pick.. There is also a contrivance for shifting the pick along from crack to crack, and one for adjusting the pick handle to regulate theforce of the blows..

A is the .bed plate, on which is a plate, B, which feeds backward and forward on it between guides O- by the feeding-screw D. This plate has another one, E, on it, sliding at right angles to its movements between guides F, and by means of feed-screw G. On this plate E the cranked driving-wheel H is mounted to drive the pinion I, which has a crank-pin, J to which the pick-handle K is connected by in the nut 0, attached to plate B. The outer end of the screw is supported in the rods P. A hand-wheel, B, may be geared with feedscrew D, as a more convenient means of turning it, if preferred. The handcrank is turned in opposite directions by the screw G.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Pat- I 'ent-- r V 1. The drivin g-wheel H, pinion I, connectingrod L, pick-handle K, and adjustable pivot N for the pick-handle, combined substantially as specified.
2. The feed-screw G, pinion I, plate E, plate B, nut O, and the supports P, combined and arranged substantially as specified.
