SULLIVAN H. PENLEY, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR OF PART OF HIS RIGHT TO RIALDO DORMAN, OF SAME PLACE, AND A. JUDSON DORMAN, OF PLAINFIELD, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN CLOCK-CASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,551, dated May 16, 1876; application filed February 26, 1876.

Be it known that I, SULLIVAN H. PENLEY, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clock-Cases; and do hereby declare the following to be a full,'clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification, in Which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention. Figs. 2 and 3 are inside views of the case.
My invention consists of a clock-case made in two separate sections, each section being composed ot'acontinuous strand or piece ofrattan-pith, formed on a block, and held in shape by glue, sizing, or equivalent adhesive inaterial.
' Referring to the accompanying drawing, A and B represent two separate sections of a clock-case, both being substantially alike and hinged together at 0. Each section is composed of a coil of rattan -pit-h, in one piece or of several lengths, made to form a contincoil is formed on a block or body by Winding, and then kept in shape by being coated with glue, sizing, or equivalent adhesive material.
A clock-case of this construction can be easily made at comparatively light expense, and will be found both durable and ornamental.

I claim-- As a new article of manufacture, a clockcase of rattan-pith, made in two separate sections,one of which is provided with the ring D,
and hinged together, substantially as described and shown.
