- the present invention relates to a new process for producingfast dyeings and printings, and is based on the observation that solutions of salts of unsulfonated derivatives of naphthalene which are substituted by at least one d-aminoarylamino group of the benzene series and also may contain hydrcxyor amino-groups dye characteristlcally wool, silk and acetate silk. lBy after-treatment with suitable oxidizing agents very fast dyeings are produced. For dyeing mlxed fibers, the dyestuffs have the particular advantage that they dye wool, silk and acetate silk in the same bath in equal tints. The present invention relates to a new process for producingfast dyeings and printings, and is based on the observation that solutions of salts of unsulfonated derivatives of naphthalene which are substituted by at least one d-aminoarylamino group of the benzene series and also may contain hydrcxyor amino-groups dye characteristlcally wool, silk and acetate silk. lBy after-treatment with suitable oxidizing agents very fast dyeings are produced. For dyeing mlxed fibers, the dyestuffs have the particular advantage that they dye wool, silk and acetate silk in the same bath in equal tints. The invention is also useful in its application to printing. p
The following examples illustrate the 1nvention, the parts being by weight:--
Example 1.100 parts of wool are handled for one hour in a boiling solution of 3 parts of 2-(d-aminophenylamino) 7 l-aminophenylamino)-naphthalene hydrochloride in 2000 parts of water. After washing, the wool is further treated with a boiling solution of 5 parts of sodium bichromateand parts of sulfuric acid in 2000 parts of water. There is obtained a blue-grey dyeing fast to full %ln like manner silk is dyed blue-grey while wool and silk are dyed a dark green fast to fulling when 2-(4-aminophenylamino -6-(4;- aminophenylamino) -naphthalene ydrochloride is used and a currant tint fast to fulling when 1.- (4-aminophenylaminq)- naphthalene hydrochloride s used.
Example 2.-100 parts of acetate silk are treated for -60 minutes at 607 0 C. with 2500 parts of a liquid "containing per liter 1.6 grams or 2- l-aminophenylamino)-6-hydroxynaphthalene hydrochloride, 0.7 gram of crystallized sodium acetate per liter being gradually added to the bath. The goods are washed and then introduced into a solution of 2 grams of sodium bichromate and 2 grams of sulfuric acid per liter of water heated to 60 C.- When development is complete the acetate silk is washed and dried. It is dyed a full green-black By. using 2- (4-amin0phenylam1no) -6- (4- aminophenylamino) naphthalene hydrochloride there is obtained a similar, somewhat less full tint and by using 2-(d-aminophenylamino)- 7 -hydroxynaphthalene hydrochloride a beautiful blue.
Eacample 3.-.10O parts of acetate silk are treated for 3060 minutes at 70 C. with 2500 parts of a vat containing per liter 2 grams of 2- (t aminophenylarnino)naphthalene hydrochloride, there being added by degrees to the bath 0.66 grams of crystallized sodium acetate per liter. lhe goods are Washed and brought into a bath containing 2 grams of sodium bichromate and 2- grams of sulfuric acid per literof water. When the dyeing has been developed the oods are washed and dried. They have a lue-black shade. V
In this example 1- (4-aminophenylamin0)- naphthalene hydrochloride may be substituted for the 2-deriv'ative, whereby there is obtained a dark currant shade.
By scaping, the lustre of the acetate silk is improved.
Example 4-100 parts of a mixed fabric of wool, silk and acetate silk are treated for an hour at 70 C. with a solution of 8 parts of 2- 4-aminophenylamino);7- l-aminophenylamino)-naphthalene hydrochloride in 2000 parts of water, while gradually adding some sodium acetate; the goodsare washed and treated with a solution of 5 parts potassium bichromate and 5 parts of sulfuric acid in 1000 parts of water'at 6070 C. The constituents of the mixed fabric are dyed blue-black fast to washing.
Under similar conditions there is obtained a green-black when 2-(4-aminophenylamino) 6 l-aminophenylamino) naphthalene hydrochloride is used.
What I claim is 1. A process for producing .fast dyeings and printings which consists in treating wool, silk or acetate silk with a solution of a salt of a non-sulfonated derivative of naphthalene of the general formula:
(wherein 1: means H or an univalent substituent of the group consisting of OH, NH 'NH-aryl-NH and subsequently treating the goods with an oxidizing agent. 2. A process for producing fast dyeings and printings which consists in treating wool, silk or acetate silk with a solution of a salt of a non-sulfonated derivative of naphthalene of the general formula:
CmHuYHNQNHa (wherein Y means H or an univalent substituent of the group consisting of -OH,
NH NH-arylNI-I and wherein one 4-amino-phenylamino group is linked to a beta-carbon atom of the naphthalene nucleus) and subsequently treating the goods with an oxidizing agent.
3. A process for producing fast dyeings and printings which consists in treating wool, silk or acetate silk with a solution of a salt of a non-sulfonated derivative of naphthalene of the formula:
