The numeral 15 refers to two longitudinally extending angle bars which areV secured in spaced relation by two metal straps 16 riveted to the angle bars and adapted to lie one Vateither side of the cross bar 13. Then these parts are in the relation described and shown the angle bars 15 are supported upon the plate'9 and are held against lateral displacement by the lupturned ends 14: of the bar' 13 and are -held against angular movement relative to the plate by the engagement ofthe bar 16 with theV straps 13.v The horizontal flanges 17 of the angle bars 15 are piercedA adjacent each end by apertures which are adaptedy to receive downwardly projecting studs V18 secured to the floor plates 19 and 20 and these studs 18 are transversely pierced v by suitable apertures adapted to receive the keys v 21 by which theparts are secured in place. When thus assembled the angle bars 15 and floorplates 19 and 20 constitute a f truckbody adapted to'receive and support a coal cutting machiney of the vwell known shortwall type. - In Fig. 5 ofthe drawing I have illustrated a typical' installation comprising a mine entry 22 and a mine room 23. In the entry there is provided the customary track 24V along which travel the mine cars by which dislodged coal is transported from the mine. Extending from the entry longitudinally of the mine room is aconvey'or 25 of the well known chain andescraper type lby which the dislodged vcoal may be transported fromthe I 'positioned' up'on the track 24`in the entry.
The principal mining operations occur upon the longface 26 of the room 23 which ex-` tends parallel with the conveyor 25, and'suit- Vable gathering mechanism, not shown in the drawings', is commonly employed to gather thedislodged coal from the ioor of the mine `and, transferi't to the conveyor 25 to 'be loaded into the cars'uponthe mine track. After all Vofthe dislodged coal hasbeen removed from the room 23 a suitable coal cutting mechanism indicated at `27 in `Figf5of the drawing, will be brought into the room and operated to lundercut the coal along the face 26, beginning at the inner end of the face and terminating at the outer end adjacent the entry. Coal cutting machines such as are here contemplated are provided with trucks 28 adapted to" travel along the tracks of the mine to transport the machine from one working place to another. Since the coal is delivered `to the mine cars in the entries no branch tracks are laid into the rooms, and this necessitates the discharge ofthe mining machine: 27 from the truck 28 at a point in the entry' adjacent the mouth of the room. ln order that the mining machine 27 may be conveniently and expeditiously transferred to the j point of beginning the undercutting operat-ion in the mine room, my improved truck 29 may be assembled upon lthe conveyor 25, in the manner above described, its body placed in longitudinal alignment with the body of the truck 28 upon the mine track and the mining machine 27 transferred from the truck 28 to the truck 29. The conveyor chain 4 `may then be actuated to propel the truck 29 to the place of beginning the cutting operation where the mining machine 27 may be unloaded in the manner which is well understood by those skilled in, the art. After the completion of the cutting operation the truck 29 may be moved toproximity with the mining machine 27, and the machine may be then reloaded-onto the truck and from it transferred tothe truck 28 in the mine entry, to be transported to thenext working place. After the completion of the cutting operation and the removal of the mining machine from the truck 29, said truck may be disassembled thereby leaving the conveyor trough unobstructedforthe transfer of broken coal to the minecars as above described.
