the inner edge 43 of the handle contacting with the adjacent edge of the link when the blade'is' in closed position, as shown in Fig. 2, thus relieving the link and switch blade from strain.
As shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 5, the arcuate outer edge portion 36 of the handle entirely closes the slot 36 in the door at all times, thus preventing access to the interior of the box through this slot.
When it is desired to pack the box for shipping, in order to economize space, the pivot pin 33 of the switch handle is removed 7 and the handle folded into the position shown in Fig. 4, into the bifurcated bracket 31, and
therefor in the handle.
The latch bar 45' for the lid 37' is pivoted the pin 33 replaced in the aperture provided r atits lower end asat 46 to an adjacent side wall of the box, the apertured upper end slot in the lid 37 when the box is in locked position. WVhen it is desired to pack the box for shipping this latch bar is swung downward upon its pivot to permit the lid 37 to be closed as shown in Fig. 6.
The pivoted switch blade, pivoted operating handle, and connecting link disclosed and described but not claimed herein has been made the subject matter of my copending application for entrance switches filed May 2, 1927, Serial No. 188,169, which is a division of this application. The service box lid and latch bar disclosed, described but not claimed herein has been made the subject matter of my copending application for latches for service boxes, filed May 2, 1927, Serial No. 188,170, which is a division of this application.
I claim:
1. A box provided with a slot having inturned flanges at its side edges, a switch blade within the box, and an operating handle positively connected with the blade having a grooved portion for engagement with said flanges.
2. A box provided with a slot having inturned flanges at its side edges, a switch blade within the box, and an operating handle positively connected with the blade having a shouldered grooved portion for engagement with said flanges.
3. A box provided with a slot having inturned flanges at its side edges, a switch blade within the box, and an operating handle positively connected with the blade having a shouldered arcuate grooved portion for engagement with said flanges.
