lNlPROVEMENT IN FRUIT-DRIERS Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 176,925, dated May 2, 1876; application filed February 16, 1876. i
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE W. BOWMAN,
specification In my present arrangement the oven or hotcloset is a wooden structure erected against or in contact with the stove or furnace and external thereto, with the important exception that the end of the oven next the furnace is, in part, formed by the brick or 'stone rear wall of the furnace, the flue only penetrating the closet, so that the entire interior of the closet is available for drying purposes, and the heat is more equable, with less liability to scorch than Where the stove occupies the interior of the closet. Furthermore, the inletopenings, the exit-openings, and the heatingfiue, extending the entire length of the oven, co-operate to insure an equal and uniform drying action at all parts.

It will be seen that the rear wall of the furnace, constituting an integral portion of the oven-wall on-thatside without at all encroaching on the oven-space, operates to utilize a portion of the furnace-heat which would otherwise be lost, and enables the oven to be constructed' of wood with perfect safety and with a less consumption of lumber than would otherwise be necessary.
