The arm is shaped in the form of a housing 28 toreceive the clamp and provide a protection for'the clamp. A spring 29 is arranged on the pivot pin 24 with one end engaged vwith the arm 23 and its other end engaged with the work support 4 to hold the clamp normally in clamping position vand a finger piece 30 is provided on the arm at its pivot end to swing the arm onits pivot against the tension of the spring for raising the clamp above the work support when inserting the sheet. A proj ection 31 on the pivot end of the arm is provided to facilitate moving the carriage from left to right.
The invention provides carriagel devices which can be easily and quickly adjusted for any size or shape sheet to be printed and the clamp holds the sheet in fixed position throughout the Aprinting operations and is especially desirable where there are successive printing operations upon the same sheet after it is registered in one' position. Y I have described the invention in an ernbodiment which gives satisfactory results but I do not limit it to this particular embodiment and reserve the right to make any kchanges in the form, construction and arrangement of parts that may be necessary to adapt it for different machines or desirable for other purposes and within the scope of the following claims.
